"Well what kind of coffee would you like. We have lots of flavors and good ones. Shock Lightning is one. We also have Shadow Knight. Blazing Dragon, Aqua Shot, and Sky Bird," She offered up some of the options for different coffee drinks. "My favorite one is Shock Lightning. Thought I'm biased on it,"

Kairi let out a light laugh, the sound like wind chimes catching a soft ocean breeze. “Shock Lightning, huh? Sounds like something Sora would’ve dared me to try—so I’ll take it,” she said, a playful sparkle lighting up her eyes as she leaned on the counter, fingers gently brushing its edge.

The scent of roasted beans and paper was oddly grounding, and for a moment, she let herself pause—truly pause—in a way she hadn’t in days. Maybe weeks. The kind of pause that let thoughts catch up with her heart.

“I guess I came hoping for something new,” she said softly, gaze drifting to the shelves and cosy corners of the tavern. “Not just a place to rest… but a place where I can keep moving forward. Somewhere I don’t have to look over my shoulder.”

Her smile returned, a little more certain this time as she met Ellen’s eyes. “This town has a feeling to it. Like maybe the adventure doesn’t have to be loud to mean something. Maybe it just has to begin.”

What made his mask the most distinct from the others however, was that it was designed specifically to cover up the giant scar on his face; the scar was a dead give away to his identity and there were just too many people in Twilight Town that he did not want knowing that he was still kicking.

Not yet.

So he exchanged his eyepatch for the mask, and upgraded his Black Coat. In many ways, it bore now bore a closer resemblance to the robes worn by the Foretellers, but if one were to look closely, underneath was the trademark Coat. No one should be able to recognize him.

The trees parted gently as Kairi passed, her fingertips brushing leaves damp with evening dew. Twilight Town’s forest always seemed to breathe with its own rhythm, and tonight, it thrummed faintly beneath her boots—like a heartbeat half-remembered.

She didn’t know why she’d come this way, not exactly. Only that something about the Old Mansion had tugged at her since her arrival. A whisper, a pull, an echo of something buried deeper than memory. Her gaze flicked toward its looming frame between the branches, shrouded in ivy and quiet.

The air near it had changed—thicker, maybe. Tense. She couldn’t see it, but she felt it… like eyes vanishing behind a curtain. Still, she pressed forward, boots sinking into moss and soil as she whispered under her breath, “Sora… if you left any trace behind… I’ll find it.” She didn’t notice the silhouette behind the window vanish. Didn’t notice how the shadows stirred just a little too long after she passed.

But the mansion was watching her now. And something inside was waiting.
