((So I’ve been recently working on an old novel I started writing way back in the day! I’ve been thinking of working Obsidian into the story as a minor character! I just dunno what role she’d have, but… I think with the whole aesthetic of the setting in the novel, I’d think she’d fit in fairly well~ Obvs, she’s not gonna be a Gem.))

((Obsidian is a priestess… in the novel, priests and high priests (and the feminine equivalents) are a huge thing, so I could see her being one such person! The high priest(ess) is some sort of… vampire lite (they need to drink blood), and they’re very high-ranking, but the priest(ess) are just regular humans devoted to the religious teachings, having their own living quarters in some church. Obi’s not a regular human, of course, so I think she might be a high priestess in this novel!))

((Alternatively, I could base her novel form off her Human AU form! So human, and she isn’t part of the dominant religion in the setting, but she is admired and respected by her neighbors! She has her own take on the magic; while it’s the same sort of magic most people in the setting know, there is a Kabbalist (Jewish mysticism, if I understand it right) flair to it, since for some really weird unknown reason, I decided to make Obi’s Human AU version Jewish. Don’t ask me why, I really don’t know why I did that.))

Topaz and Amber’s wedding day!

It had been… quite the week. Steven and the gems returned from Homeworld, promptly invited. Topaz and Amber had reconnected with their former diamond before she, Blue and White left. Canis is now Slate. And all the bubbled gems that Topaz had stored in the stasis room were healed/stable. Some working with the centaur gem, other opting to instead become Crystal Gems, the rest deciding Homeworld would be better for them and were welcome to visit Earth anytime, according to Steven.

“Looking good, Amber! All four thumbs up from me!” the green Garnet fusion grinned.

“Ooohooohoo, don’t worry, my lips are sealed~” Ayame giggled. The twins in her belly were starting to get big, and the expectant mother almost had to yank everyone by the ear earlier today to stop them from fawning over her. She didn’t want to take the attention away from Topaz and Amber’s special day, after all. “I’ll see you out there in a bit,” she hugged the bride and Tsav and Steven and went her way to join up with her family.

Obsidian waited patiently, watching over everyone. She knew nothing would happen, so she was less on edge and a bit more sociable than she usually was, and she tried to make small talk with Topaz. “Nervous, Topaz?” she patted him on the shoulder.

The Arrows... well, tried to look rather formal, though the fact that they tried at all meant that they cared a lot to look nice for Amber and Topaz’s day. “Stupid cracking frumpy...” Zaff blushed a bit, adjusting her outfit, a relatively nice pirate captain’s outfit... though it smelled of ocean water. How and from where, no one knew. Emerald, of course, took a page out of the Koizumi family, regaled in her own kimono the family gifted her. Those two were... probably the nicest looking ones out of the ragtag bunch.

Jun and Chihiro were bubbling with excitement, of course. The girls never attended a wedding before, so they were getting to experience something new. “Hehe, you know, Tarou, you were at a wedding once, though you were a baby at the time, so you don’t remember,” Rokuro hummed.

It was very rare for Obsidian to lose her temper at all, but Diamonds normally set her off. She really wasn’t happy to see some genocidal rock fascists coming over to Earth…

“Obisidian, it’s alright! We worked it all out!” She stepped between the other and held her back from attacking the Diamonds. “They’re here to fix what they did!”

“How can you be so sure of that, Sister Baddel? Goddess only knows what their true intentions are, I’m sure of that much,” the priestess snorted bitterly. She never forgot, after all, and she certainly hasn’t forgiven yet.

“For centuries and centuries, White Diamond has kept me under her watchful eye to silence me, and shattered my mentor for speaking the truth. Yellow Diamond tried to shatter me herself. The only Diamond worth forgiving is probably Blue, but she’s on thin ice.”

She really wasn’t happy that when all was said and done, those horrid Gems pretty much got away with everything they did, but there really wasn’t anything she could do at this point. “Those two won’t be getting their sins absolved by me any time soon, I can tell you that much, Sister... they’ll just have to earn it the hard way by their penance, whatever that might be.”

If shattering them wasn’t an option, then there had to be some other way for the Diamonds to suffer, Obsidian figured. Truth be told, she felt betrayed by the Moon Goddess, in her opinion. Given some time, the priestess might start thinking clearly instead of spewing out this vitriol.
