Anyway, if you've read the comic/print volumes, please consider leaving a review on one of the various online platforms (Amazon, B&N, etc)! It's extremely helpful for me and my publisher, plus it helps potentially outweigh any "I didn't read volume 1 so I'm confused and annoyed" that may or may not be present in the reviews I may or may not have read before exerting my Iron Willpower to tear myself away. Informed reviews are incredibly useful for potential readers no matter the star rating, and I promise not to look!
I honestly hate the way most scholars talk about Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House, because I feel like they often reduce her to WOMAN instead of recognizing she basically pioneered the home as a gothic monster in the 20th century. The HOUSE itself as a living beast, rather than a single soul or spirit within, and how it echos the crippling domestic entrapment of 1950s suburban sprawl and conformity.

Something that really appeals to me about The Murderbot Diaries is the way names are used.
ART is ART but also Peri and Perihelion depending on who's speaking - kind of reflecting how ART is in so many places at once.
Murderbot's name is Murderbot but (at least early on) 'murderbot' is also how it refers to SecUnits generally - and then when it chooses a name to be addressed by it chooses SecUnit, and that's how its humans address it, even in private.
Names seem to be tied up with function, even to the extent that they change based on context.
And in Fugitve Telemetry so much emphasis is placed on names - from Murderbot's decision to go by SecUnit on the feed to its reaction to JollyBaby's same and the private joke about it, to the fact that it's the removal of Balin's name and identity on the feed that motivates the other bots to react.
