Hetalia OC's for North England (around the section of northumbria in modern day England) and South West England (around Cornwall and Devon)!
Time period pre (successful) roman invasion, around 20BC to 20AD.
Au:
Arthur was the child of the British archipelago (Britannia) and the Holy roman empire, and was created around the time of the first invasion attempt. His land was initially Britannia's land and without it, she slowly decayed and eventually dies around 10AD. During that time, Ireland and Scotland, as well as Britannia herself despised him for being Roman, not fully celtic and for causing her death. They all treated him as "other" (a black sheep one might say ;D) and often harmed him in anger. Neithon and Kerenza and Dylan (Whales) treated him best, and were even kind to him. He grew very close with Kerenza and Neithon, treating them as family.
During the second Roman invasion, Ireland and Scotland were cut off from the rest of them. Arthur was taking the brunt of the invasion, and abuse from HRE, Kerenza and Neithon stepped up to try and protect him, leading to their death at the hands of HRE and Arthur becoming the representative of their lands. During this time, Whales stayed far away, wanting no part in it.
The Romans left (after 300 years of brutal reign) and all the Isles reconnected, the others discovered Kerenza and Neithons deaths. They assume that Arthur had a hand in it, as he got their land and in their minds he did the same thing to Britannia. They assume he was treated well under Rome, and that he wanted their rule to take their knowledge for his own gain.
This misunderstanding is never corrected, as Arthur blames himself for the deaths of those he considers family, so the rift between the brothers grows. Whales has some inkling that the story they know isn't the whole truth, but he never brings this up because Arthur never disagrees with their version of events.
Arthur begins to push people away more and more, with a harsh personality and cutting remarks, so he doesn't accidentally hurt anyone else.
