What I love about Deadpool 1997 is that Wade is a very sick man but that Deadpool doesn’t exist anymore
Lately he just seems a dude who talks alone and does weird and even cartoony things
Like they made it look his struggle with being a good guy is bc he loves money and killing brings money :( also that he is chaotic but his chaos sometimes feels pinkie pie chaos with some +18 stuff, not the chaos that will imply someone who’s mentally ill
Like I do love the girly pop version but there’s something about Wade trapping an old blind lady and knowing she will obey because one time she tried to scape, she wanted to go with a friend that could help her vanishing, she went across the country with tons of hardships and when she arrived there, Wade had already killed the guy and they just walk home
He doesn’t need to lock the door, not even when he punish Al in the Box room, since she is already hopeless and won’t scape
It makes his quest to be a hero more interesting, with an antihero he has a bit more sense of a moral and that makes people trust him for better, even teaming with other heroes when needed
But a totally evil villain? Wade really cling into the one person who though he may be good and when that person is gone he loses it bc the evidence that his evil is everywhere, even when he stops killing people try to corrupt him again and not in a cutesy “come one I’ll pay you if you kill him” but he was literally sexually assaulted and hunt by this girl
His so paranoid he thinks his only friend/subordinate Weasel will turn his back on him quickly
Not even in his own house he is safe of the reminder of how awful he is, with Al as a literally prisioner, even if she tries to care for Deadpool it will never work out bc the power balance, he can’t be seen as vulnerable, even if he had threw up after the sexual assault, he will never voice the reason
No one really likes him and have reasons to not doing it, not bc his unpredictable or annoying but bc he’s toxic to bond with, even if you are on his good side like a crush will stalk you, even you are his friend, he will find a way to control you just in case, he’s very violent
So someone as toxic as that trying to be a hero? Doesn’t that seem impossible? But he really wants to prove to anyone out there that he’s not a lost case, that he can be good and likable if only someone has faith in him
But he destroys that faith as soon as he gets it, he self sabotage but he isn’t that hopeless deep down he cares a lot, he had also saved Al’s life before and if Weasel is in danger he will be the first to go and save him, he is very paranoid yet also very loyal
Funny how the people who had seen the good soul very deep down Wade, will die to prove he’s not that bad
I still need to learn more about him to see the jump between villain Deadpool and anti hero but in my mind he made an improvement and he really got better enough to not be seen as completely evil, that he proves that he can be worthy of being a hero
And the fact that he got better is why he changed
