Constant Motion

Team lunch has been a pleasure to work with this quarter!  We have been hard at work preparing our final presentation tonight!  We have nearly finished our presentation for the 5 second, 30 second, 5 minute and 30 minute presentations.  Now all that is left to do is the printout layout.  

Today our group, the Green Mammas, is affinitizing our 100 ideas and then selecting our favorites to put through the decision matrix.  

We first used lateral thinking methods as well as other brainstorming methods to get our ideas in writing.  Next we added our ideas to digital sticky notes and moved our ideas around to produce an electronic affinity map for optimization and  for transformative idea maps.  

This is an example of our optimization affinity map in progress.  The red stars represent the ideas that I am particularly fond of.  We will each ultimately add our own color stars to determine which ideas are more attractive to the group.  After we determine our favorites we will put them through the decision matrix.

Hey guys!

As you already know, last Thursday we were given the assignment to analyze a coffee shop that we haven't been to before.  I decided to visit the Foundary Coffee Pub on the intersection of Anderson and Habersham.  I arrived at approximately 10am to the minimally occupied coffee shop.  Just as I entered a younger business woman was on her way out after fixing her coffee at the coffee "condiments" bar.  The barista, finely dressed in a grey button down dress shirt and dress vest, welcomed me warmly and asked what he may make for me.  I ordered a cappuccino (pictured below) and sat down near the front door, cash register and coffee "condiments" bar.  

 During the course of my stay about 13 people entered the coffee pub and were all documented in my research. My intent is to come to class on Tuesday to present my findings and gather insights about my findings.  I am also trying to improve my skills as a graphic designer and would greatly appreciate any help!

I already have the book This is Service Design Thinking (unfortunately I haven't found the time to read it yet).  I was planning on reading it last quarter.  I did read enough in the book to remember that there was an online component mentioned in the book.

If you click on the "I am new to this tab" you'll get a snapshot of what the book is all about, and then they'll try to sell the book to you. Thats not so much fun, but if you click on the "I know what this is about" tab and you get access to a couple of interesting tools.

The Canvas has been developed to support you when designing services. You can use it not only for yourself to get a quick overview of certain service processes, but also with providers for a self—portrayal and with customers and other stakeholders to explore and evaluate services.

They also have an icon download and a link to smaply, a tool for making journey maps, stakeholder maps and personas.

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start out by introducing myself and elaborating on my service design experience with the new restaurant, Funky Brunch, on Broughton street.

I am a Junior industrial design student with a minor in service design.  I am also on the SCAD soccer team and am a professional artist with works in the Shain Gallery (Charlotte, NC) and the Matre Gallery (Atlanta, GA).  I love Savannah!

I am Josh Brown.  I am an industrial design student at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), a starting artist at the Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, and the starting goalkeeper and team co-captain of the SCAD varsity soccer team.  Outside of my professions I enjoy cooking, reading, the outdoors, family, friends, and adventuring with my lovely girlfriend!  This is my first blog, and I am excited to see what comes of it!
