Ah, i felt bad deactivating so randomly last time, but it was a mixture of security issues (my account was constantly brute-forced with numerous password resets and i didn't want to risk anything) and a general desire to step away from tumblr for a while.

And yes, to me older Amadeo has gnarly facial hair. He's working for a condottiero, despite prefering to become a statesman. Also probably known to be quite the voracious lover around Florence (LOL) and surprisingly quite the mystic (made fun of by the others for that). I liked the idea of human!Armand being a complete inverse, yet somewhat reminiscent of his vampiric future; Armand was a militant cult missionary, Amadeo lived and died by the sword. Though he's still very spiritually conflicted inside, all the way up to his death, when Marius visits him one last time.

Back in mid-2025 i wanted to create a TVC OC. I don't think i've ever deleted the post from Twitter even after i've purged the rest of my TVC-related arts, but she eventually developed into her own thing.

Her concept was very simple! She's a vampire who lived as a "kuntilanak", a local folk ghost typically depicted preying on newborn babies or pregnant mothers.

I was really into 70s Indonesian music at the time, so i added that too; she became a rockstar with a kuntilanak gimmick after seeing the Deep Purple concert in December 1975, an actual event infamous for the chaos ensued, crew deaths, and from our POV, how it changed audience's expectations for big rock concerts going forward (For reference, in the Old Order, any cultural imports deemed as "western" was banned. So Deep Purple legally performing in a big stadium highlighted how different the New Order was).
Yeah, it was a little bit of Armand mixed with Lestat, i admit (LOL) but i was deep into TVC at the time, especially IWTV & QOTD, I loved how the vampires in the series represent what lies beyond death, the afterlife and our beliefs about it. I loved how the chronicles uses the vampires to talk about the state the living world & how that affects the non-living. Hence Baby Rock represents the modern fear of the Old Order (literally, as a folk ghost), evolving into the fake display of humanity and freedom of the New Order rockstars.
I joked once that a proper "adaptation" of IWTV in Indonesia would be Louis as an executioner for Pemuda Pancasila during the 1960s CIA-backed genocide. I don't really have the capacity to make that story yet. I guess this character is a "bite-sized" version of that idea.
I ended up writing a short book about her, with illustrations, of course, in the form of an interview. There's a lot of little nuances and details that would be hard to explain, but this OC became something exclusively born from my national memory, it's something that's uniquely Indonesian, so i'm really proud of it!!!
There's a digital preview of the book, but it's obviously in Indonesian, and i don't know when or if i'll have the time to translate it entirely to English.
&That's all!! I know i rarely talk about my original projects here but i'm particularly happy about this one! Especially since "Kuntilanak Rockstar" was a direct product of how much i love IWTV and how it inspired me creatively, so this post was supposed to be on the 50th anniversary of IWTV last week... but i forgot to finish writing it 😭😭
