Small snippet from the fanfic I'm working on!
A what if Kai is the Water Ninja?
(Hasn't been corrected yet)
Kai feels useless. He has nothing to do but make tea.
“You're getting better.” Wu told him, after several failed attempts, as if that is supposed to make him feel good about himself.
While the ninjas and his sister are out there doing whatever Ninjas do, Kai wanders the monastery for the 5th time but every walk ends up outside to the training area.
And something in Kai tingles to train. For what he doesn't know.
On the day his sister was kidnapped everything changed. Master Wu believed Kai had the elemental power of fire in him and when he saved his sister it seemed like the right thing.
Well, turns out it's not when it became noticeable how the weapon isn't fully reacting to him. Sure he can wield the sword but everyone can do it.
No. It was powerful when Nya wielded it in a moment of need in a fight.
Everything shifted on that day.
Ignoring the embarrassment Kai felt, it took him some time to accept his sister being the actual elemental master of fire and him, well nothing.
Nonetheless, Master Wu told him the fact he learned Spinjitzu is a sign. He told him to hold on to that ability.
The other boys were surprisingly nice to him when the truth came out. They could've made fun of him but they were trying to lighten the mood and still have the video game nights with him.
In the end Kai found himself training again until they came back, telling him excitedly about the scroll they accidentally found.
Kai found hope again. A green ninja. What if he is the green ninja? Maybe destiny held a spot open for him after all!
The others started laughing.
“Sure, Kai.” laughs Jay. “We love you, dude but there is no way-”
“Yeah? Let's decide, right now!”
So they somehow ended up battling each other, minus Nya who thought this was dumb but who stayed anyway.
She would never say it right out loud but she didn't feel like it was safe for Kai to fight against them. They might try to hold back for the first seconds but… Kai does have an ego on him that makes people go all out.
Surprisingly, Kai held off pretty well! He had a normal sword, telling them that's all he needs to beat them.
He ended up actually beating Jay, although in a fit of rage.
“Uhm I don't know, Kai. I don't want to hurt you-”
“I won against Jay, didn't I?”
“I held back!” Shouted Jay from the sideline.
“Yeah, yeah.” Grumbled Kai. “Let's fight.”
Cole had enough of this and started fighting for real. Somebody has to give him a reality check and if Cole has to be the one then so be it.
Kai ended up falling on the ground when the ground shaked harshly.
“Kai..!” Nya jumps up quickly walking to him, only for him to shove away her helping hand.
“That didn't look fine.” notes Zane. “I feel like I heard something break.”
“Sounded like the leg.” Added Jay.
“It's fine.” Kai slowly stood up, almost falling again, when Cole held him up, just in the moment when Master Wu arrived.
In the end Wu explained to them the scroll again and confirmed that indeed anyone could be the green ninja, however, he never wants such a reckless stunt ever again from them and left.
The ninjas started fighting against Serpentine and were out longer than usual nowadays. This gave Kai the chance to use the training facility alone and as much as he wanted and got more training with Wu who happily agreed to the extra training.
But still, even after that, he was still alone for a long time.
He wonders if Nya is okay. He was always protecting her and nowadays she comes home with more bruises.
He needs to help. Somehow. He needs to be needed. When was the last time he wasn't? There was no single day where Kai wasn't, since the disappearance of his parents.
Kai grits his teeth and rushes to the tool and weapon machinery. He is a blacksmith damn it. He knows how to be useful if he wants to.
All these years he somehow made money. Sure his weapons weren't the best but that's because Kai was always rushing things. Now, he has so much time, so why the rush?
