not only is this just a wretched comment and not even remotely a good “gotcha” (let’s be honest it’s just transphobic) all it did was remind me of that clip of andrew tate saying he’d rather fuck megan fox with a dick over hulk hogan with a pussy.
objectively the best part about Scream 4 is that Jill Robert’s entire plan is to basically maker herself the star if her own snuff film and i’m here for it actually

I blame cis people for this, but I don't think that transfem people should be centered in conversations around 'Women's Issues'. The truth is that most queer people are misunderstanding what 'Women's Issues' actually are. They try to make it inclusive by claiming that transfems and transwomen are welcome, that if you identify as a woman then clearly 'Women's Issues' apply to you too.
And we can argue that transfems are in need of reproductive justice too, because of course they are. But when you claim that abortion is a 'Women's Issue', you're not helping transwomen and transfems, you're still being an exclusionist piece of shit.
I don't think transfeminine people should be centered in this discussion because these AREN'T issues that only women go through. Reproductive justice is important, but not when it excludes the transmen and transmascs who get raped, sold & married off, & forcibly detransitioned just so they can bare children. I don't care that you 'don't feel included' by white cis feminists when they talk about 'Women's Issues', because you're not the one being denied an abortion for having an M on your ID. Or being denied an abortion, period!
'Look at how uninclusive this event about Women's Rights is!' And what the fuck are YOU going to do about it when you get into this little club by climbing over the bodies of your trans brothers? Come the fuck on!
I'm so sick of 'Women's Issues'. I'm so sick of 'female' spaces' biggest issue being that they exclude transfems, & not that they're actively hostile towards transmascs who NEED these services.
Inclusion is important, but not when it means forming an exclusive little clique that leads to more death. This isn't your conversation to lead.
trans women should be centered in conversations about womens issues because trans womens issues are womens issues. trans women should be centered in conversations about reproductive justice as a minority that often has their reproductive rights under attack.
"stop trying to include them, include US!" is not a hill to stand on. we can talk about how these ideas harm all of us.
You completely misunderstand my point, a point that I'm not even the first person to make. It's late where I'm at & I can't be bothered to explain AGAIN what I mean, but REREAD what I wrote CAREFULLY, instead of getting mad at the first paragraph.
I read your entire post multiple times before I responded. You're right that the conversations around reproductive justice should be degendered, and those conversations should center whomever has the anatomy being discussed. But "I don't think that transfem people should be centered in conversations around 'Women's Issues'" isn't the way to go about it. Women's issues are about all women, including transfems/trans women.
Trans men should be centered in reproductive justice, too. But we don't need to steal anyone else's chair.
I'm pretty sure OP put '''Women's Issues''' in scare-quotes to indicate that the LABELLING of those issues is a misnomer if ''Women'' is attempting to be used as a gender-divorced-from-sex marker bc it was COINED using ''Women'' as a gender-tied-to-sex marker (that is then genocidally-enforced onto intersex bodies)
Medically speaking (and we are, bc the convo is about reproductive justice) issues that were not shared by CIS MALES were instead ''Women's Issues''— retroactively redefining '''Women's Issues''' to **exclude trans ppl by saying that ~their~ needs are Identical to Cis Male's** is transphobic regardless of which trans groups you are lumping them in with; it is a targetted harming+ostracizing of trans men paired with a pithy feelgood ~validation~ of trans women's genders without any MATERIAL BENEFIT ATTACHED to help with either of their reproductive needs.
Like you said, OP very clearly was asking for an UNGENDERING OF THESE CONCEPTS(+bodies) in discussions about Reproductive Rights instead of a """trans-positive""" feminist spin that actually only accomplishes the excising of trans ppl not willing to DETRANSITION to access medical resources they need, while also STILL allowing bigots acting within the medical system to deny the reproductive resources trans women need by continuing to hide behind the dually-defined term 'Woman' and just ~magically trusting~ that just bc a trans girl IS a girl that she'll qualify for ''women's care'' under an innately transphobic system.
Gendering Bodies is Transmedicalism & results in Intersexist violence. Transmedicalism is applied transphobia even when it comes from other non-cis folks. Pointing out when transmedicalism is hurting trans(+intersex) ppl is not less important when the bodies being targetted by a specific manifestation are not transfeminine— any place were one kind of trans person is being visibly targetted is one where the rest are being targetted on-the-down-low so the full scope of its impact can't be accurately verified OR rallied against as having wide-reaching impact (by minimizing ''who counts as effected'' into a ''non-important number'' & denying/down-playing non-advertised harm as 'incidental collateral damage'). Trans solidarity means not falling for goofy ~boys vs girls~ shit and pretending like MUTUAL EXCLUSIVITY from each others' spaces is the way forward in the gender liberation front.
@ OP: Critiquing the priorities+critical political understanding of ppl who only seem invested in word-meaning litigation & validation theatrics is fine and dandy, but if you start your post with "I blame cis ppl for this" before immediately segueing into complaining abt trans women's efforts to be heard 'in women's spaces', /you are being transmisogynistic/. The duelling dual-meanings of 'Woman' (structural vs cultural) means you have to closely watch your language so that you aren't maligning transfems as ''non-women'' the same as you are watching your language to not define trans ppl as a whole as ''women-lite''. I know this was a vent post; I'm trying to explain clearly where the misstep happened, not deny the problem you identified. If it's cis ppl who caused it, then trans women should not be the targets of ''correctional instruction'' for stepping in-line with the culturally dominant modes of feminist thought when doing so is a matter of safety+ability to be heard by a society primed to penalize any trans person who isn't cis-assimilationist.
Body modification rules so hard. Everyone who's anxious about making choices they regret should take a long hard look in the mirror and remember that everything leaves an impact on their body
It's 1am and I may delete this in the morning but hear me out. As long as you're living a life, you're going to wind up with scars and freckles and muscles and fat and a million other things altering your body. You have to learn to live with that. But if you've already learned to live with the basic effects of life, I promise you've got everything you need to live with the basic side effects of surgery, or a tattoo that isn't perfect, or a piercing you regret. Once you actually are at home in your body, you can't fuck up that badly.
I knew a guy who was very nervous about regretting top surgery and then, when he got it, one of his nipple grafts rejected. He was fine. He regretted nothing. It was funny to him, with the power of hindsight swapping all the anxiety. Yeah, it wasn't perfect, but at least it was something. At least it was his. That's literally all it is. If it goes wrong, so be it. Maybe it's a bit ugly. We all have ugly bits of our bodies. Maybe "ugly" doesn't mean anything. Maybe a guy with one nipple is more interesting and happy than a guy with dysphoria and anxiety and a million other things.
Not to be a shill, but you should go on HRT. You should get that tattoo. You should get laser hair removal or WHATEVER you've had your eye on! It's better to work with imperfect scars than the tension of wanting. Cut the cord and then work from there. Live with your scars. Live your life. The tension of wanting is always, always, always more painful than the sting of regret, in my experience. The worst case scenario is better than that slow roast of desire.
My mom has wanted a tattoo for 40 years and still hasn't gotten one. Forty years! That's long enough for a braver person to get ten tattoos they didn't care for and five they loved every day! All she has are memories of forty years of wanting. Do you want to spend forty years wanting? Or do you want a tattoo that's a little flawed? Do you also avoid knives because they could scar you? Are you so afraid of blemishes that you never go in the sun? Shut up and get your tattoo. Stop waiting to live in your body. It belongs to you, not somebody else in fifty years. Fuck up and get hurt and have flaws like everyone else who's alive.
There should be a term for “good terms to use in theory discussions and debates but god when used in online discourse settings or by people who don’t engage at all with theory they are the worst ever” because that’s how I feel about a lot of queer terms. Terms that when I’m reading a book written by someone who has spent years studying and is abled to go over all the nuances, I dont care if they use them. But when I see them in discourse posts by people who haven’t read anything and don’t engage with theory I roll my eyes when I see them.
I think it’s useful to have terms that describe trans people who don’t medically transition and trans people who do/want to medically transition. There are many experiences that are different if someone isn’t medically transitioning, and there is different challenges faced. And that’s something that needs to be acknowledged.
But every term that’s been proposed has been gobbled up by the horrible internet and used by people who are weird about non-transitioning trans people to the point it feels icky to use them. Sometimes it even feels weird to use the term “non-transitioning trans people” because so many times I’ve seen transphobic people use it when being bigoted about trans people who don’t medically transition.
