Did you know that AO3 allows fics with homicide in them? There’s a whole tag for Major Character Death and even more tags so you can find exactly what kind of character death you want to read.
Don’t they know that murder is illegal? You just know there are a bunch of homicidal maniacs out there who love to read those stories. They write them, too, in between killing people.
Anyone can read the stories on AO3! Kids can read them! They’re getting exposed to stabbing, poisoning, even guns! And they’re writing the heroes doing the killing, too! That’s basically telling kids it’s okay to go out and murder their families. It’s promoting violence and encouraging homicide and if we don’t do something about it soon, you’ll be murdered next!

I understand how, when it comes to sensitive topics, people shut their brains down. I get it. I really do. But it's exhausting how many times I have to be like "There are no thought crimes, you have to actually harm someone or contribute to the harm of someone for you to be have done something bad."
And then I get legions of people who are like "Ah, so you're okay with people DOING BAD THINGS?" No, I'm explicitly against that
"Ah but if they DID THE BAD THINGS, it's because they were THINKING ABOUT IT and WANTING TO DO IT." Correct. The problem is the doing
"Oh, so you think NO ONE who EVER thought about doing bad things has EVER done a bad thing??" No. I'm sure many of them did think about it beforehand. I'm sure many also did not. It's the doing that's the issue
"So you want me to be COOL with PEOPLE DOING BAD THINGS" No. The doing is the problem. I also don't expect you to be cool with anything, I don't know you or care about you and nobody is owed any particular emotional reaction

I think flinching is such a hit or miss reflex. Like yea a tiny bit of boiling water touched my hand but i dont think reflexivly throwing the water everywhere is a good defensive measure perhaps. might be even worse actually

It's like so cool as someone with an at times debilitating body dysmorphic disorder to try to look up solutions for what I feel is a pretty mild issue overall, but still one I want to solve, only to be met with every single response being "Why would you care about that? No one ELSE cares about that and you shouldn't either. It's really weird to care about a part of your body because your body is natural and beautiful and perfect and amazing, and you should be happy showing off every part of it forever"
I'm having a particularly bad "want to put my entire body in an industrial shredder" kinda day, hence looking for a solution to this little issue, and like. I'm not looking for feminist body positivity advice when I'm googling "fix for this problem please". Not every moment of my existence as a human woman has to be radical activism.
