After co-writing the award-winning summer hit of 2012 “Cruise” with Florida-Georgia Line, Chase Rice released his third full-length record “Ignite The Night” in 2014 which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Top Country Albums and has been lighting Carolina hearts on fire ever since. Although he is not the first country artist from North Carolina to make it big, he is the first to consistently pay tribute to his specific college roots over and over, from Instagram photos and Chapel Hill bar He’s Not Here to the hit song “Carolina Can”. Chase Rice not only stands out in the country music scene, he puts on one hell of a show.

In Charlotte this past Friday, cowboy boots and pick-up trucks stomped downtown venue The Fillmore with excitement for North Carolina’s biggest supporter. Recently released single “Whisper” off his upcoming album gives fans the same gravel melody of sexiness as his popular “Ride” cover from SoMo does. With new music expected this summer, fans of this small town, scruffy star packed The Fillmore to no surprise. Covering country classics, Rice had no problem getting fans off their feet. Strangers become friends and beer cans are emptied when Chase Rice comes into town.

A Day To Remember guitarist and Best Guitarist award nominee Kevin Skaff states,"We're really excited to be playing at this year's APMAs. Also, do I get an award for perfect attendance or nah? And thank you for nominating me for "Best Guitarist". It's an honor!" 

The 2016 APMAs also will feature a special appearance from Spencer Chamberlain and Aaron Gillespie of post-hardcore favorites Underøath, who just finished their 2016 "Rebirth" tour. Gillespie is nominated in the Best Drummer category, presented by DW Drums.

Let’s start off by saying - how lucky are the people in the album cover?! Partying with The Summer Set (or at least pretending to) must be one hell of a time.

Anyway, back to the music. We had the opportunity to listen to the entire new album Stories From Monday, which drops April 1st (fingers crossed this is not a prank). It’s been a solid THREE years since the poppy-punky sensation released their last record Legendary, which was also the last time we sat down with Brian Dales. Now with an upcoming new record and a spot on the last two weeks of Vans Warped Tour 2016, it seems these guys have no plans of slowing down. 

The first track “Figure Me Out” seems like a journal entry from Dales’ and is about figuring out where The Summer Set is and where they’re going, a perfect start to their 2016 “comeback”. But have faith TSS fans, once you hear the rest of the album you’ll realize they have once again created their own perfect niche in the music world. “Missin You” takes the title of 2016′s Best Breakup Song (official TEM decision). Hell, I haven’t even broken up with anyone and I’m still screaming along with my middle fingers in the air. It also just occurred to me that this song is applicable to leaving a job, a place, graduating college, or any other event that is an excuse to “give me every drink and every number!” One of my favorites is “All In”, an accomplished response to “Figure Me Out” - an outline of the band’s “here to stay” mentality. Speaking of responses, they snuck in a line to erase the previous “perfectly wasted youth” line in Legendary with the track “Wasted” that says “youth WASN’T wasted on us!” You sneaky kids, you.
