You just have to find someone to be brave for.
Project Hail Mary — 2026, dir. Phil Lord & Chris Miller
Okay I don't know if this has been said before and I also don't usually make my own posts on this blog but this has been spinning in my mind rotisserie chicken style and I can not stop thinking about it.
I can't stop thinking about the onslaught of emotions Rocky must have felt the moment Grace's earth thinking machine was able to say his 1 right back in his own language.
Here we have this little alien who comes from a highly social species. Who left his mate behind on Erid. Who watched all 22 of his crew members die without explanation and without him being able to fix. Who was all alone. In space. For decades. And after all that loneliness, all that isolation, losing hope at saving his sun and his planet with no one to comfort him--who comes along but Dr. Ryland Grace. And Rocky must have been so excited to not be alone anymore. But not only is he no longer alone, but this strange alien from earth can record his voice in his language and play it back to him. He's been isolated for, what, 46 years? I can't imagine the longing he must have had to just hear someone's voice. And while this may be his own voice played back to him, it is a reminder that not only will he be able to communicate and connect to someone else, but he gets a piece of home, a piece of his own language to cling to and to keep him going.
It's also a stark indication that he can talk. He can talk! To someone else. And they'll understand!
That small, brief moment in the movie where Rocky hears his own voice and he freezes a little, the weight of understanding at what this means finally hits him, is such a small part of the movie but it hits me so hard.
(sorry for gif quality lol i've never made one before)
Never be ashamed to think you are cool or funny
Cool & funny are entirely relative traits that everyone conceptualizes differently anyways. Who cares if other people don't think you're cool and or funny. Some people think matt walsh is cool and funny. And you're cooler and funnier than him.
Same thing with being attractive like i genuinely think people who self proclaim unattractive are doing more mental harm to themselves than they realize. Like I see people say Theyre just being realistic etc etc and it’s like no you’re not you’re doing deep psychic damage especially if your conclusion is that youre objectively unattractive because you don’t fit some societal standard
Not to be the guy who's like I Posted About This but I wanted to share these thoughts I had on the matter. Like you can justify self hatred in so so many ways and think you're doing something good by doing it .
know the difference!

ACCIDENTALLY LEFT MY MACERATED APPLE SYRUP ON THE STOVE AND IT CARAMELIZED I GUESS?
it was super thick and dark and golden and bubbly so i took it off the heat. happy accident.
tastes delicious so good. idk what to do with it though
thank you for your recommendation! with brief consideration, it has been disregarded.
Sometimes i think about the brigs on Star Trek and how they have forcefields that have to be kept running constantly and that crap out whenever the ship takes a hit, allowing the prisoners to escape; and how this technology is just inferior in every possible way to just, like, having a cage with bars, but you can't just do that because Star Trek's in the future and everything needs to be a given value of "futuristic".
And then I think about computers with no ports or DVD drives, computers that only have Bluetooth functionality for their keyboard and their mouse, phones with no jacks or ear buds and etc.
please tell me how to be a cool they/them I'm really trying here but i just cannot seem to reach your levels of swagger or hilarity
step 1: use they/them pronouns
step 2: you are now a cool they/them
step 3: river water in your socks
Sometimes when you’re writing you scrape a character out of the depths of your soul and plop them on the page and you’re like huh didn’t know he was even in there
I've known a number of non binary people in my life and I think single biggest conclusion I can draw from that is that non binary people are not the same. Like if Men fit in box A and women fit in box B, people really, really want nonbinary people to fit in a theoretical box C, and it just doesn't work like that. They are outside the boxes. They defy any simple categorization because they are not a third way of being, but every other possible way of being.
Being supportive of binary people is relatively simple, they have decided to sort themselves into one of the boxes that we have lots of experience interacting with. Being supportive of nonbinary people can be comparatively tricky, because you have to resist the urge to create box C and drop them all there. That's how we end up with various prejudices like "woman lite". Humans really, really like to categorize things. It helps us think. Unfortunately, sometimes it helps us think wrong.
If you have a non binary person in your life, I think it is important to take the extra effort to learn about them specifically.

5001 being divisible by 3 doesnt feel right
Shortcuts to determine if an integer is divisible by:
This is a given.
If the last digit is divisible by 2 (a.k.a. even), then so is the whole number.
If the sum of the digits is divisible by 3, then so is the whole number. The recursivity of this means that if the sum has multiple digits, you can add them up again until you get a single digit and see if it's 3, 6, or 9.
Like the rule for 2, but check if the last two digits are divisible by 4.
If it ends in 5 or 0.
If the rules for both 2 and 3 apply.
No shortcut. Alas.
Like the rules for 2 and 4, but check if the last three digits are divisible by 8. (Yes, this pattern keeps going for 16, 32, etc.)
Like the rule for 3, but the sum of the digits (or the sum of the sum of the digits, etc.) must be 9.
If it ends in 0.
#THIS POST IS WRONG 7 DOES HAVE A RULE FOR HOW TO TELL IF THE NUMBER IS DIVISIBLE#it's just. not a short cut#you're better off dividing it and seeing if you get a whole number than doing the method
but what IS the rule @anqelbean ???
Okay, so, basically, you remove the least important digit of the number (which is the first digit from the right), you double it, and then subtract it from the remaining number. If the number you get is still large, you do it again.
For example, 294
29 4
4×2=8
29-8=21
21 is divisible by 7
Second example, 1946
194 6
6×2=12
194-12=182
182 is still large, so let do it again
18 2
2×2=4
18-4=14
14 is divisible by 7
June and July are the same months btw. They want you to think they're two different months but it's the same month that's 60 days long. Same way August is actually August and the first half of September
