Thank you for your friendship.

I couldn’t have done this without the encouragement of a friend.

There were times I wanted to give up, but you kept telling me I could do it, that I held the power in the relationship I was in.

You told me that I didn’t deserve to be treated badly. And not only said it, but showed me what normal conversations are supposed look like.

You allowed me to express myself, to be me, even though most of the time, I was still figuring that out…and still am.

And when on the rare occasions that my feelings are hurt, you allowed me to express it, we talked about it, and moved on.

He came again. Quietly to my door. Like before, only this time, He had planned to spend the night.

He arrived late evening.

We made up for lost time, and fell asleep in each other’s arms hours later.

I slept so soundly.

Early morning, I woke up. It took me a split second to realize one of my children hadn’t slipped into bed with me.

I tried to keep still so He could get all his sleep.

He usually snores lightly.

But now He was breathing quietly.

I listened for a moment.

“Are you awake?”

“Yes”, He answered quietly.

I snuggled in closer to Him and draped one of my thick thighs over his leg. He took his other leg and crossed it over mine.

For the next half hour, we just talked. About life and kids and work and things. It was time spent relaxing and enjoying each other in an intimacy that didn’t involve sex.

He came again, this time I was on top.

Then it was time for Him to go to work. He took a shower and got dressed. I kissed Him goodbye and wished Him a good day.
