sorry if i’ve like been, really scarce from tumblr these past few weeks, and not posting stuff, as much as i wanted to, ah :’>  real life’s been, hitting me kinda hard with things and, i, might have forgotten about this online realm,,, whoops. it’s been, a teensy bit of a struggle cause i got no one to talk to about it but, i’ve been managing. yeah.. c: 

status on my drafts! responses are coming along, i promise! i know i have two to reply to that are still waiting on stuff but, words go brrrrrr and get jumbled in my head so, i have to sit for a bit longer, and figure out where they go,,,, x’D  also, new tumblr stuff mighttttt have messed with replies from other people so, if you think it’s my turn to reply, maybe just gimme a lil @ so i can see c’:

is there a new editor or something on the site? or is it still only the legacy editor, that’s the new one? i’ve been using that for so long oop-  and since, i’ve been lurking for like, ever (i am so sorry; i apologise ;w;) i dunno if there’s something new-! 

all my drafts look normal so, i assume there’s nothing but aaaaa. i don’t wanna post them and then have it muck up everyone’s formatting style >w<

sorry i’ve been kinda absent,,, again...  a lot’s been going on, good and bad things, and it’s really drained me, and i haven’t been paying much attention to tumblr, as you’ve, probably noticed...  i do need a distraction though so, i want to get replies at least drafted-!

     Volt have a feeling the question was coming and turned in a way that hopefully his the smirk on his face and Harmony answered Zee without a second of hesitation. 

     “It means Fuck around and find out.”

     It was so hard to hold back a snicker as he filled the electric kettle with water, especially when Harmony was wagging her tail proudly and even Fafo had lifted his head as if proud of himself for getting such a unique name from his caregivers. But as the kettle began to heat up, the kitten knew there were treats to be given and he wasn’t about to miss that. 

     Once he was done making sure that the hedgehog’s legs smelled as much like him as they could that was. Then he was into the kitchen, onto the counter and with a slight shift in posture, up across Volt’s shoulder. Not nearly as comfortable as it normally was with the hybrid missing an arm, but it allowed him to get all the chin scritches and pets from Volt as he could get. 

     “Like I said… Spoiled.” Volt smiled and carefully used his claws to open the packets of hot chocolate. Thank Chaos for them… Or else he would have needed to ask for help. Everything was a bit more of a chore to do one handed, but it was a routine he had gotten into since being back. He just had to take things step by step. 

     Three mugs, two spoons, one peppermint stick, and adding the hot water. All they needed to be was stirred and Volt stuck the one with the peppermint stick on the sill dividing the kitchen from the lobby, where Harmony got up to grab it and attempt to take a sip. 

     “Hot!” And stick her tongue right out her mouth afterwards. Volt snickered and offered the next one to Zee before he stirred his own from the counter. 

     “We can sit by the fireplace or the space heater. Up t’ you.” He held the mug and used it to gesture to the mentioned spots after rejoining his partner and daughter in the lobby area. “Then I want to hear all about what you’ve been up t’.”

✧ A snicker through his teeth. Whoo boy-! 

“Still pretty. I like it.” 

Zonic let the cat go and peeked after him to watch him perform his way up to Volt’s shoulder, laughing softly once he was there. Definitely spoiled, but definitely loved. The hedgehog had watched his partner prep their drinks with some weariness, but feebly held off from helping. Even though Volt hadn’t offered, he would have happily given his help, guest or not. But, they were soon done and he didn’t need to worry about it much longer. 

He took the offered mug and held it in his hands for a moment, adjusting to the warmth and taking it in, before looking up between their options to sit. 

“Fireplace is a better spot for telling stories around. Makes it feel cosier too,” he insisted, already taking steps towards it. He faltered at some point but was quick to correct himself, pausing once he got to the fire-side to stir his drink some. “I don’t know how interesting it’ll be since, most of what’s happened is just work related but, I’ll do my best to keep you entertained.” 

     “I missed you too.” Spoken with no hesitation, Volt looked to his partner with a soft smile. A glint of longing lingering within the violet eyes before he had to focus on getting them inside and could start working on getting drinks made for themselves. And everyone helping with the holiday decorations.

     The inside of the inn was warm with chairs, tables and couches in the lobby to make sure that everyone had a place to enjoy themselves. Even the fireplace was giving off a steady supply of heat but Harmony was more than content to sit her paws next to the space heater instead. Mainly due to the kitten who had been sleeping on a cushion nearby.

     Said kitten only lifted his head at the newcomer following Volt inside, stretching out his massive front paws and giving a wide mouth yawn. All it took was a few scritches to his fluffy cheeks and he was back to purring quite happily in her lap.

     “I found him outside as a baby and daddy and I raised him. His name’s Fafo.” It seemed almost comical when the kitten made a sound, as if proud of his name and flicked his tail.

     “She spoils him just as much as she does her snake but I promise he’s friendly… just huge.” Volt chuckled at the protesting yowl and the kitten got up to follow the older hybrid into the kitchen. One would assume he was older than he was due to being double the size of a house cat but true to Volt’s words he was friendly.

     He even took a moment to rub against Zee’s legs on the way to kitchen as Volt looked over with a smile. “So… Tea, Coffee or Hot Chocolate?”

✧ Oh no, he quietly already loved it...!  The space alone was cosy, but even just spying Harmony beside the feline gave off a warm comfort. It was clear the kitten had grown towards the two hybrids swiftly. Zonic softened his gaze with awe; that was sweet. 

“Fafo’s a beautiful name... Does it mean anything?” he questioned, a little invested with the creature now. He’d never had any pets of his own (except, maybe Muttzki but, he didn’t really count..) but loved to meet the ones that belonged to others, especially if they were friendly. The hedgehog had paused to adjust his scarf, loosening it up some now that they were inside, and once situated leant over to greet the kitten at his soft contact. “Hello there, Fafo. Nice to meet you too.” 

Giving a few scritches around his neck and then gently brushing his fingers over the feline’s back, Zonic then looked up at the question. 

“If you hadn’t mentioned the hot chocolate, I wouldn’t have been tempted but, now I am, and that sounds wonderful,” he softly laughed. Honestly he would have been happy with either, but since the offer was there, he’d take it. Besides, who said zone cops couldn’t drink hot chocolate? Zector probably, Zonic thought, but he wasn’t here to complain the suggestion. 

✧ ".... Stars, I sure hope I am."

Even if Zonic had wanted to give too much information, Dan was just simply happy to hear things were looking up for Zonic both in work and casual time, especially with how long it had been since he’d last seen him. “Heh, I know what you mean there but its always good to have a place you can go back too that you know is yours.”

After all it was no secret the demon-hog did a lot of travelling himself though he usually had the opposite problem. 

“Speaking of homes, I’ve technically got one now, its not quite finished but its nice to actually have somewhere that isn’t just a campsite.” While it still was a common occurrence to linger at them, there was something a lot more comforting about just owning his own home. “You’d be welcome to visit my little secluded paradise if you fancy it.”

After saying that, Dan’s memory would click as he remembered some other previous details. “What happened to the little squad you had and were training? They gone and graduated now to be proper officers?” It was hard not for him to chortle on remembering how one of them seemed to think he was ‘cool’.

“Oh and how’s Zilver? I bet he’s come a long way too by now.”

✧ The hedgehog might have been the slightest bit glad he paused when he did - it was nice to hear what his friend had to say about the matter. The conversation already felt comforting, after not having a friend to talk to for such a long time, so to speak. 

“Oh yeah? I’d be happy to, since you’re inviting, haha,” Zonic admitted. It did sound nice, and he always felt he got to know a little more about his friends when he visited their homes... invited or, accidental otherwise but, he didn’t need to dwell on that. He shifted, sitting a little more comfortably before continuing conversation. 

“Ah yeah, Zari and Zeon; yep, both full-fledged in the force now. Zari still keeps in touch with me, sending documents on all the zones she’s visited - even though she knows I’ve already visited them, but is just eager to show what she’s found, even if I’m not her commanding officer any more,” he explained with a laugh. Those two certainly kept him busy, and he’d started to miss them for a moment when he’d seemed MIA... “As for Zeon, last I heard of him, he’d been assigned into the tech squad and, not much else after that.” 

Zonic then managed a fond smile at his friend’s mention of the younger hedgehog. It had, truly been a while since the two of them crossed paths...  Recalling the last time Dan had mentioned him too, the zone cop realised he, actually hadn’t heard from the cadet since then.

{{ not me tryna think of things i can post/do when i’m at work so people know i’m still semi-active c’:  god i wish work wasn’t as tedious as it is, ehehh, but such is life -w-
