Teddy was eating his lunch on a bench by the main building. People were walking by, chatting idly or chasing eachother. Willow stepped up beside him and looked down at him before begrudgingly speaking.
Teddy looked up, surprised to see Willow of all people talking to him. He swallowed his food and smiled stupidly up at her. "Hello, miss! What can I do-"
"Don't make me walk away." Willow interrupted flatly, holding up a small godzilla figurine. "I wanted to return this to you."
Teddy stared between her and the toy. His lucky godzilla toy that he'd gone a week without. A long, horrible week. "You... you found him? You got it from Ben?"
Willow considered lying. She considered just saying that she found it on the ground and knew it was his. But she was trying to make this right. She sat down beside him with an audible sigh. "No. No, I told Ben to... steal something from you. It was stupid."
Both of them stayed quiet for a long moment. Teddy stared at her solemnly as he tried to read her expression. Willow's eyes were slightly sunken, but she was just as stiff (robotic) as usual.
"Then why are you returning this if you wanted it to happen?" Teddy asked slowly, hoping it wouldn't set her off.
There was another long moment of silence as Willow stared intently at the concrete ground. Teddy almost thought there was something written on the ground with how hard she was focusing on it. "I felt bad." Willow blurted. "I don't know why. But when he gave me something that represented something you're passionate about, I... I hated that I took that away from you. So I'm sorry."
Again, Teddy stayed quiet, trying to assess the situation before jumping to conclusions. It shocked him, really. He always thought Willow was too cool to apologize or even look at a nerd if it didn't benefit her. But he was wrong.
"Thanks." Teddy said softly, smiling again as he got his godzilla toy back. He pressed the plastic figurine to his heart before stuffing him back into his pocket. "I really missed him."
Willow didn’t respond. She figured it was better to just nod rather than try to engage in prolonging the conversation. So, Teddy filled the silence. "Are you... gonna apologize to Ben? Since you put him up to that."
Willow couldn't help the glare she threw at Teddy. It wasn't like she was mad, she just knew he was right. "I... I dont know. I should've done it already. Maybe I will." She shrugged, pulling a cigarette out of her jacket. "Mind if I smoke?"
Teddy wrinkled his nose slightly at the cigarette, but didn't protest. There was still too much of a risk that she'd yell at him. "Go ahead," he said, scooting over a little to give her space. And to get away from the smoke. "...hey, I also had 10 bucks stolen from me that day."
"Yeah, that's still mine." Willow scoffed standing up. "Don't expect anything to come from this. See ya later." She said before walking away.
