On an intellectual level, I recognize its unreasonable to expect patience from people who are exhausted from always having to explain themselves, but also real opportunities to share perspective are lost when someone operates under the presumption that a particular interaction is one in which shame and vitriol is called for rather than teaching, or even just silence. I'm motivated by a genuine belief that people should be allowed to live in peace as they please if they're not hurting anybody, but I can see how if that was less of a priority getting friendly fire for being dense about something would be extremely demotivating.
I don't believe the things I believe out of a need for validation, but its also nice to simply not get my head chewed off for the grievous sin of not immediately recognizing the truth of someone's radical interpretation of a fictional character.
