But the post goes to Slippers (Los Angeles, California) and their June 2026 release, "Slippers 08". The band is the vehicle for the music of drummer/vocalist Madeline BB (Madeline Babuka Black). An earlier digital single is named, "Guess I Started A Band", an indie version of Art Brut's "Formed A Band". We previously covered their Lamo-O release in 2024, but on this album she collaborates with Mo Troper and Fred Thomas (mixing and mastering). The Bandcamp mentioned both The Beatles and Karen Carpenter when describing the record. "Wants For Everyone" is a fantastic pop song worthy of those two titanic names. I might throw in XTC for good measure.
