What do I do now? Jan. 15, 2014
In December I had this urge to watch the entire series of The Office on Netflix; about a month later after all the laughs and fits of rage, I am finally done.
First off, I didnāt realize how many episodes I missed because I was either doing homework and/or studying for god knows what. But I set aside so much time that there were no excuses now.
After watching the series finale for the second time, and after watching every single episode, I have learned so much from The Office. Sounds clichƩ, I know, but never has a show made me think, feel, cry and laugh.
Relationships
People come and go but thereās no knowing which ones will stick around. In The Office, coworkers left to follow the path of their dream job or to move to another state with the person they love. Saying bye sucks, and The Office has taught me how to avoid it: Don't tell anyone. Seriously though, cherish each moment with the people around you, especially if they have impacted your life in some way. Learn that saying bye is a part of life and although you might never see that person again, there is no knowing how much truth there is in that.
"If you want it, go get it"
This infamous quote has resided much with The Office, especiallyĀ the one and only Pam Beesley.Ā As a receptionist, she is told whatĀ to do day in and day out. For once, Pam got herĀ life together and took control.Ā She went to art school,Ā failed it; however, never gave up on her passion to paint.Ā Perhaps one of the biggest steps she took was in telling Mr. Jim Halpert how she felt. After running through burning coals, she realized if she can do that, she can do anything. Beesley confessed to calling off the wedding, for she realized who it was that she truly loved (Jim Halpert). Pam is loving, caring, funny, and a one-of-a-kind dork. She reminds me to take control of my life and to never lose sight of my dreams.
The only love story I will always, not an exaggeration, have a heart for is Jim Halpert and Pam Beesley's...Pim?...Jam? Anyways, I'm not big on watching anything that has to do with all that gushy romance stuff but somehow, I found myself gushed over Jam's relationship. First of all, Jim. Jim was incredibly patient in waiting for the day that Pam would tell him he loves him. For years, he waited. Secondly, basically everything that Jim did to/for Pam just made me screech inside with this sort of "school girl crush" act. Pam, on the other hand, it took her a little while longer to realize but nonetheless, she realized it before it was too late. They were best friends first and remained like that until the end. I'm just glad through their rough patch, they somehow worked things out. I would probably have to say, the scene that made my heart drop was when Pam told Jim: "I just feel like I'm not good enough for you." After Pam watched this video about their relationship through the years, Jim tells her: "You are everything to me." I cried inside like a baby. I guess their whole relationship was build upon this belief: "When you grow up, you assume your parents are soul mates...my kids will be right about that!" -Pam Beesley. No matter what, they proved to each other that love is more grand than life itself.
