to answer your question, saw a few glimpse of the comic and I'm excited to see what kya is up to, especially on this side of the avatar world. and I'm looking forward to meet more sandbenders and see how they are written this time. people have made fair criticism about the way they are generally presented in atla and we barely see and interact with any sandbenders in tlok.

when see them again during roku's time, they are again used as a narrative device but this time for the purpose to show how deep sozin's bigotry is. in that case, it almost seems like randy is aware of fans conversation about the sandbenders and how they've been portrayed so far and used that as a subversion maybe. or maybe I'm looking too deeply into it because this is sozin we are talking about and the guy had hate in his heart for everyone.
