I just googled this and⌠yes, itâs absolutely real.
And there are so many articles and videos and discussions. Like, the scientific community is buzzing about this.
So much research will have to be redone because the data was absolutely compromised, off by orders of magnitude, by using standard lab gloves.
The world is probably not horrifically contaminated by microplastics. Sterile laboratories, however, are contaminated by latex and nitrile gloves.
Thank God someone bothered to check.
I have a wild idea. what if we supported our claims of fact by linking to a reliable source. better yet, what if we went hogwild and just straight up linked to the actual unpaywalled study
ok but like. there are two different types of privilege. there's type a "everybody should have this, but some people don't" and type b "nobody should have this, but some people do"
there's having parents who can pay for your application to any college, and then there's having parents who can bribe your way into any college. there's owning your own home, and then there's owning 50 houses and getting rich off hoarding a vital resource. there's not fearing for your life whenever cops are around, and then there's being the cop and being allowed to murder anyone at any time.
idk i just feel like that's an important distinction to make.
im grabbing every celebrity whos like "well im kind of sort of nonbinary in a sense..... one could say im nonbinary-esque but i wouldnt want to take the spotlight from the REAL trans people... i [insert the most nonbinary experience youve ever heard] but really im okay being an ally. i just appreciate nonbinary people so much. on account of feeling in a way that one could, hypothetically, describe as nonbinary, in a way" and shaking them. lovingly. i am not mad at them im just mad
its not about the term "nonbinary" itself idc if you prefer that term or not But. i do think this way of thinking is So common amongst NB/GQ people because of exorsexism, both in the sense of "i dont feel like i'm trans enough to count; i've lived this long as a cis-presenting person, so i don't want to do Trans Stolen Valor, im fine, it doesnt matter actually!!!" repression and the "i know in the back of my mind at all times that coming out as nonbinary would create multiple major burdens on my life and potentially damage my career and so i guess ill just be pretending forever until i die" looming dread.
and theres also the fact that so many of those "nonbinary celebrity" lists (esp years ago) had a lot of celebrities who would mention in an interview that they were ~connected to the masculine and feminine energies within them~ and id be like cool friend! Are You Nonbinary Though. In The Gender.
and yknow its not that we as the public should be owed this information, or that i want any celeb with genderqueer things going on to feel pressured to be out or have their gender be comprehensible. but the matter of the fact is that the overwhelmingly majority of celebrities and just people in the public eye are binary cis people, and the majority of trans people in the public eye are binary trans people. and you have nonbinary celebrities, or even just content creators, who get bullied out of being publicly nonbinary or into changing their pronouns. and ive complained before on this blog how binary trans people don't seem to see nonbinary people getting locked in the closet or pushed back in to be anywhere near as bad as when it happens to binary people.
so every time i see a celebrity who seems to be genuinely expressing some nonbinary (umbrella) feelings and circling the language of nonbinarity, but always shying away from anything that would be too declarative. i can't help but wonder how many people would just be nonbinary if not for the weight of exorsexism pressing in from every side. anyways idk who needs to hear this but if you wanna be nonbinary you can just be nonbinary. you can be nonbinary and cis if you want. even if your gender isnt "that big a deal" you can still call yourself nonbinary. it makes me so unimaginably angry how used to being excluded from all parts of culture and society nonbinary people are.
today's bug thing is this button caterpillar hat!

happy pride I'm glad I'm gay I'm glad you're gay I'm glad we're both gay and alive
happy pride month for it/its users, polyamorous people, xenogenders, non-transitioning trans people, and other "weird" identities. btw
"everyone should get more aromantic" can appeal to tumblr's sensibilities but I genuinely think everyone should also get more asexual. I don't mean everyone stop having sex, what I mean is
Sex is not essential. You can live without it. Full stop.
Not having sex isn't shameful or a sign of failure. It also doesn't make anyone boring.
You are not entitled to having sex with anybody and nobody is entitled to having sex with you.
Sex is not what makes someone an adult.
Nobody's worth is defined by how much sex they have or don't have.
Sex is not equally important to everyone.
You can have fulfilling and happy relationships without sex.
You should only have sex on your own terms, not because you feel like you owe it to someone, or because you feel like you'd be incomplete without it.
Know your boundaries around sex and be firm about them. Know how to respect other people's boundaries.
The previous point also applies when it comes to discussing sex. If someone doesn't wanna talk about it or hear about it you have to back down.
Anything can be sexual but not everything has to be sexual.

Here's some queer history in honor of the approaching Pride month.
It's an acronym.
The organization shut down in 1968 due to pressures from both straight and queer parties (there's always been those gays more concerned with being seen as normal than actual progress) but they permanently changed the face of the queer rights movement and their spirit lived in to today.
This Pride Month, remember:
We're here, we're queer, we're really fucking tired so we're just gonna go straight to biting instead of feigning polite confusion if you're gonna be a bigot this time, just so you know.
Happy Pride!

did perfectionism ever truly protect you from harm or neglect as a child though. ultimately. Lol
[REALLY NORMAL AND WELL-ADJUSTED VOICE] well you never know maybe it COULD have saved me. if i ever actually achieved perfection. it could have happened then. if i was actually ever enough. Which i was not

This is probably for a very niche audienceâŚthose of us who grew up evangelical in the 90s and early 2000s who have since left the church, come out as queer, and started unpacking rather a lot of religious trauma.
ButâŚfor those of us who grew up that way this was part of the soundtrack of our childhood. I canât stop listening to this song. And I canât stop crying.

I think a lot of people are a lot more traumatized than they think, their trauma is just so normalized they don't realize it.
Like, vivid nightmares about failing a test or brief surges of panic that you're missing homework long after graduating from school are such a common thing, and people act like those aren't symptoms of PTSD. Persistent, overwhelming stress about you and your loved ones going to hell after you die is textbook anxiety-disorder material, but everyone in the church I grew up in thought that was normal- good, even. So many cis people feel the need to assert their masculinity or femininity by any means necessary, to the point that claiming something will enhance it is a consistent and proven marketing strategy, and people don't seem to put together that that stems to the aggressive panopticon of bullying and harassment for deviating from gender norms that happens to just about every child.
Like, I'm not the only one seeing this, right? All of these are treated as just normal or even expected ways to act when they're all such blatant trauma responses and nobody thinks twice about them.
something iâve been finding very interesting in the years since leaving the christian cult i grew up in is all the random little habits and mannerisms people have that tell me they were raised christian or in an environment with a lot of christian culture and iconography.
i think the biggest one is the way people raised in or around christianity swear. christians and ex-christians swear with a lot of phrases like âoh godâ âoh my godâ âjesus christâ âjesus fucking christâ âholy mother of godâ âgod damn itâ âgod fucking damn itâ âdamn it allâ âoh hellâ âholy hellâ âholy shitâ etc
iâve been observing the way that my friends who were raised non-religious or not in religious schools swear with significantly less biblical phrasing and vocab. idk i just think itâs interesting :3
also itâs hilarious to me that atheists seem to be the least likely to take the lords name in vain
