be christ-like this christmas. gather a crowd and inspire them to anarchism. beat a politician with a whip. help out your local sex workers. preach equality.
Get to know your neighbors. Feed them. Let them feed you. Watch each others’ kids, grandkids, pets.
Develop the muscle of generosity like you are training for a giving ultra-marathon. Share everything you can with anyone who asks, and ask for what you need.
Get in touch with your body. You will need it, and it knows things. Pay attention to what is happening below your neck.
Tell the truth. Tell it to yourself first.
Sit at the feet of your most vulnerable neighbors and your own most vulnerable places. They have the most to teach you about survival.
Listen. Remember your ancestors, and the things they survived. Find the resilience that is your birthright and the courage that made way for your life.
Practice taking risks. Show up in every struggle where someone is fighting for their dignity, because that is how we will all survive.
Learn about reparations, and native sovereignty. Double down on exorcising supremacy systems from your soul.
Learn to be tender. Refuse to be hardened. Let your heart be moved. Every damn time.
Root in the place you are. Learn its history. Learn its geography. Learn its seasons.
Sing. A lot. And dance. Make art. Make love. Rest luxuriously. Eat pie. …
The world is ending and beginning now. We are surviving now.
Let us love, let us connect, let us fight like hell for the dignity of each and all

Litha Blessings to my fellow modern pagans and witches of the Northern Hemisphere and Yule in the South. Happy solstice to all!
Today’s outfit selfie came care of a mirrored sculpture at the @neworleansmuseumofart #sculpture garden #ootd #MirrorArt #MuseumSelfie (at NOMA’s Besthoff Sculpture Garden) https://www.instagram.com/p/CWZgg-qg8yw/?utm_medium=tumblr
My outfit for taco night with @lloberti at @xacotacori after I trimmed my bangs and dyed my hair last week 🌮💕💇🏼♀️ That cool pendant is from @hexwitchnola or @hexwitchsalem 🤔 I can’t remember because the time I bought it I’d been to both that season! Dang but I love this pic of my blonde hair.
Colin Firth (Mr. Darcy) and Jennifer Ehle (Elizabeth) in "Pride and Prejudice" 1995 version
Ugh, why is Colin Firth so hawt even when he looks super awkward??? 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Fiddling around with my latest profile pic. It doesn't seem like it, but this is all part of my grand Social Media Platform shifting.
After Offline with Jon Favreau did back to back episodes on the recent memoir of former Meta employee Sara Wynn-William, Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism, I just don't feel like being on IG or FB anymore. The content in my default feed is boring anyway. The algo is enpoopified (to make the saying a little less naughty) for certain.
I was an early adopter of Facebook. On it since 2006. Almost 20 years! My plan is to make all my content set to "only me," keep my profile up so people can find me, then put my contact me URL in the comments of the default public things, such as my profile, cover, and pinned posts on my personal profile and my pages, so people can still stay in touch. And make a note that I will only be checking the platforms on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month (I will post to my UU church's social media on those days, since I run Bell Street's social media.)
My new social media focus will be on Tumblr, Pinterest, Bluesky and my blog at NotebookWitch.com
When social media is good, it brings a lot of good things--connection to people, sharing of ideas and interests and events. When it's bad though, it is so awful.

Mr. Bennet: Sure, I haven't taken care of my daughters' financial security, but have I at least taken care of their education? No. But have I taken care of their emotional needs? Also no. But have I been a good protector and supervisor? I'm afraid not. However, have I been a good example for my children of being a kind and respectful spouse, parent, and all around human being? No again. But through it all, have I nailed being funny? Yes. And isn't that the most important role of a father after all?
I’m not alone in this love that saturates more than for any other poet. I think because you give so much of yourself, we are devoted due to your generous vulnerability.
There is something else too, though, for me. Neponset, Nantasket, Hanover, World’s End—to drop them into your poems is like a code for future poets from the South Shore. A message, “yes, I’ve felt the lonely isolation of being a weird arty type where banality thrives.” I think only we catch the depths of those word drops, which is why we get a little giddy when we find them in your work, and discover amongst ourselves who else has had that rush of recognition, that release of relief when we receive the encoded message, and we realize we’re not alone in that loneliness we once knew before we made it out.
It’s only one of thousands of reasons why I love you but it’s a special one. You’re a special one. Thank you for what you’ve created. Thank you for what you’ve shared. Thank the others who keep finding & sharing more previously unpublished treasures. And happy birthday.
Eat the Weeds: The Magnificent Dandelion
(Taraxacum spp.)
I am loathe to call these incredible plants “weeds,” but weeds they are in the eyes of most. I use them as salad greens, but the flowers can be made into wine and soft drinks, and the roasted roots make a caramel-like a coffee substitute. Parts of the plant can also be used for natural yellow and green dyes.
The plant itself is a dynamic accumulator and producer or an array of essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients (vitamins A, C and K, and calcium, potassium, iron and manganese).
This sunshine-yellow flower attracts pollinators to the garden, grows in a wide variety of circumstances, and with a long taproot cycles deeply-buried soil nutrients to the surface (a so-called “fountain plant”). Numerous species of butterfly rely on it for sustenance during various stages of their life cycles.
Various dandelion extracts are being researched as cancer medicines, as all parts of the plant contain a number of pharmacologically-active compounds. Long used in folk medicine as a tonic for the blood, liver, and gall bladder, dandelions have a mild diuretic and laxative effect on the system: it is a registered drug in Canada for this reason.
Dandelions are among my favourite plants, and if they weren’t already so abundant, I would plant them! If you can find them in a place that is not plagued by runoff or sprayed with pesticides, I’d highly recommend you explore their culinary and medicinal potential.
More: “A weed is a plant that has mastered every survival skill except for learning how to grow in rows.”

Used book ephemera. I wonder if Audra has forgiven Angie during these past 15 years? You could write a book about this.

The EPC Page on John Wieners

This page is very comprehensive. Unfortunately it hasn’t been updated since 2011 and there are now new resources available. (Hence the reason I decided to create this site.) CA Conrad’s labor of love is evident, though.
