I really hate that movie/tv trope where they’re like

My dad would have been 60 this year

Omg so Austin Creative reuse posted an instagram story about the sewing machines they had available and in the vid I saw the one I was going to buy with my tax return. (ACR is a thrift store for art supplies)

I figured what the hell, I'll go see if its still available. 

I get there and lo and behold its still there, the paper says its missing the bobbin plate cover, easy to replace, and the needle position selector doesn't work 

I buy it figuring I can look up how to fix the needle position thing, after some googling I learn that it might be because the stitch width selector thing is all the way on 6. I get home, check, and find that it is, so I put it on 0 AND THE NEEDLE POSITION SELECTOR KNOB WORKS AGAIN!!!

Its a Singer Heavy Duty 4423, retails at around 200 and I got it for 50. A replacement bobbin thread plate was about 5 on ebay and the missing accessory kit was about 18

With shipping I paid about $78 for a $200 sewing machine

She then said because of my profession and I was like “Oh my god I never thought of that.” I’m a hair stylist
