It had been rather ingrained in Harry’s mind that peace couldn’t last forever. Everything was shifting, changing, in a constant state of movement, and peace kept true to that. But he’d hoped it would last a little longer than eight years.

When Andromeda dies, leaving no guardianship over Teddy, Harry finds himself against Draco Malfoy as the only other eligible – and more than happy, apparently – carer. But when neither one is willing to leave the metamorphagus behind, of course, they reach the only logical conclusion. Because whatever can happen, will.

Run away. To Harry’s home. In Wales. By the beach. And co-parent. With Draco bloody Malfoy.

So far this fic has been sooo fun to write, and it's been a very comforting one too. There aren't any archive warnings that apply, and it's rated Teen and Up (mainly due to swearing.) It's set in summer, eight/nine years past the war, epilogue what epilogue, and I'm excited to share it !!

[in the uni/college cafe] 'Hey, can I get-' 'A caramel cappuccino with oat milk. I know. It's your third this morning.'

Characters A and B brushing each other's arms in the library studying

'Hey look, I really don't mean to bother you, but I got a C, and I saw your paper and you got an A, so I was wondering if you could help me? I'll pay you...'

It's Freshers week at Uni and somehow they both signed up for a trial session of this one society that's... what's this society about again? And why are we the only two here?

'Sorry, would it be weird if I could just... leave my computer to charge here? I know you've got the table but it's the only one in the library with a plug socket, my coursework is due tomorrow and so far I've only written two thousand words so would it be alright..?'

The lockdown drill went off whilst we had unfortunately snuck out and we've just returned so now it's just us two wandering the empty hallways alone waiting for people to exit their classrooms together.

A is doing a photography project but they have nobody to model for them and they have no idea who B is but they were unfortunate enough to be the one most conveniently there as they grabbed a random model.

'Hey, our first exam is in exactly twenty days!' 'Don't say that.'

Somehow we both booked out the best study room at the same time and yes there's an empty one but it's not as good and we're both too stubborn to cave.

We both regret the subject(s) we picked and we've both shown up at the office to try and get them changed at the same time.

The rain is one of my favourite weather settings. It adds a touch of melancholy but also hope to everything your characters do. It's the kind of weather most people stay indoors for, which makes it the perfect time to throw your characters outside.

Kiss - okay sorry this is basic but I HAD to include it

Dance !! - Also basic but dancing in the rain?! Urgh, I love it

Go swimming, especially in summer rain. Bonus points if it is in a lake rather than a pool or anything.

Stick 'em on a train with some headphones as they leave a significant location (e.g., childhood home, funeral, lover's house) for the last time.

Build a blanket fort - I'll NEVER shut up about blanket forts in books! They're perfect, fun, domestic, childish, and fluffy.

Just. Sprint. Make them sprint in the rain. For no particular reason, other than it's freeing.

Baking (with cinamon)

Literally just lay on the concrete (trust me on this one)

They have to walk home from work/college/school/ect and their umbrella blows away and they have no coat leaving them just walking in the rain. It's a great way to instill a final-straw moment into an already soul-crushing story.

Cry, but they're outside, so the rain mixes with their tears until it no longer tastes of salt.

Stick 'em in a tent. They're now off camping!

Go on a late-night rainy drive (I actually hate driving at night and also at the rain so this sounds like my personal nightmare but it is relatively aesthetic and sets a really distinct mood for a scene of eternal loneliness.)

Go outside and scream at the sky. Could add in the crying here too.

'Hold on. Say that again.' 'What?' 'How do you know that?' 'Wait, I don't-' 'I never told you. How do you know?!'

'...It's not what it looks like, I swear.'

'Don't lie to me. Not this time.'

'Had any of it been real?'

Character A destroying something Character B gave them that was sentimental out of anger after finding out what B did.

'Will you ever tell me the truth?'

'Do you regret it?' 'Do you really want me to answer that?'

'I should have seen this coming. Why didn't I see it coming?!'

'How could I be so stupid?!'

'Well. Fool me once, right? Right?!'

'You were supposed to stop me!'

'Oh. Right. Well. We don't- we don't really talk anymore. I wouldn't know.'

'I warned you about me, remember?'

'Do it. I dare you.'

'Why?'

'If you- if you're going to- can you at least make it quick?'

'...You know them?'

Character B not being the one to reveal the betrayal, but rather mid-fight with the antagonist, the villain asks Character A how Character B is doing and mentions something they wouldn't know unless Character B had shown or told them.

'I can't even look at you anymore. How sick is that?'

'You promised.'

'Is it my fault? Is it something I did? Something I said?'

'Why would I lie?' 'You've done it before.'

'You- you gave them my [sentimental item]?!'

'I suppose I'll never really know if it was all an act to them.'

'I'm... I need some air.'

'Oh, love, I already knew.' 'Why- why didn't you stop me? Why didn't you say anything?' 'And lose you in the process? I'd rather be dead than alone.'

'Is that all you have to say to me now?'
