Grief envelops him and haunts the halls of Malfoy Manor. Left alone after the death of his parents, Draco is a wreck; the hallucinations had started shortly after the war, right before Lucius had been taken in by the Ministry. At first they were manageable, they were little things, like the sound of people crying, or the bodies of his loved ones in the corners of his eyes. Things he could ignore. Things he could learn to ignore. But after Narcissa passed, the grief caused something in him to snap, the last bits of his sanity leaving him. He began to see her body all over the manor, twisted and defiled, bloody and bruised, he saw his father being killed by Voldemort, he saw the bodies of the people they had tortured, all the victims the Death Eaters had hunted down. In a fit of rage, Draco snaps, digging the end of his wand into his eyes. If he cannot see, then can no longer fear that which haunts him.
In which Draco Malfoy blinds himself after being haunted by visions, and Harry Potter helps him return to a new sort of normalcy. Simple Auror duties really, it's not because he feels what Draco feels, definitely not because he's considered hurting himself the same way to feel something, anything really.
Good night, Harry.
Harry lay on his side, looking at the flames. When he glanced upward, he noticed that the ceiling of the Room of Requirement was not a usual ceiling. It shone with stars against a night sky, but these weren’t like those in the Great Hall, replicating the real sky above. This was an enchanted sky entirely its own.
The constellation Draco glittered at its centre.
“Take a look at that.” Harry murmured, nodding toward it.
Draco looked up. The stars gleamed, clear and sharp, their silver lines tracing the outline of the celestial dragon.
“The room has good taste.” His voice was softer than before.
Harry didn’t respond. Instead, he closed his eyes for a moment, took a deep breath, then opened them turned to look at Draco.
Draco turned slowly, and his eyes found Harry’s, calm with a quiet kind of acceptance.
Harry felt it in his chest, like the air compressing slightly before becoming easier to breathe.
They only looked at each other, with a full, unhurried attention, trying to memorise each other’s faces.
Draco was the first to move. He straightened with his usual elegance, making sure his robes fell smoothly.
“I should go.” He murmured, getting to his feet. “Good night, Harry.”
Harry smiled, tilting his head. “Good night, Draco.”
He was never going to fully understand the particular tenderness he felt every time he heard Draco say his name in a goodbye.
When Draco reached the door, he turned to send one last look back. There was something vaguely troubled in his expression, like he resented what he was feeling, or wished he didn’t have to feel it at all. And without another word, he simply left.
Harry looked back up at the ceiling, at the constellation watching over him from above, not sure what to do with everything that had just happened.
Harry loves the way Draco says goodnight.

Drarry Fic Recs
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
This is a collection I've made on my Ao3 (which there are many other collections you can check out as well) that I've used to keep track of what I've read and enjoyed of everything HPDM.
If you need a short Drarry TBR you can search for !Top10FIcs in the notes and my top 10 (or 11, whoops) favourites will pop up for you.
I've only just updated the profile for it because I saw that people were submitting new works to it!
Now, let us explore Harry smelling amortentia
The professor moved a couple of steps forward. “And you, m'boy?”
Harry inhaled, curious. The scent wrapped around him at once, warm and persistent. “Green apple,” he began, without thinking. “Freshly cut. Parchment, rain… and orange blossom.”
Slughorn gave a small, pleased clap of his fingertips, careful not to spill the vial. “Excellent. What evocative combinations!” He returned to the front of the classroom and held the flask aloft. “This, my students, is Amortentia.” He announced at last. “The most powerful love potion in existence. It does not create true love, of course, but it generates a very convincing sensation, and very dangerous, obsession, if administered carelessly.”
Several students straightened in their seats. Others let out nervous laughter.
“Each person smells within it what they find most attractive.” Slughorn continued. “What they most desire. What is most… irresistible to them.”
Something shifted in Harry’s stomach.
Green apple. Parchment. Rain. Orange blossom.
It wasn’t a new scent.
He frowned, trying to recall where he’d first encountered that combination, and the memory arrived with such force that he threw up his Occlumency shields on pure instinct.
A warm room at the Burrow. Draco asleep on his side, hair dishevelled, no cologne, his breathing slow and even. The scent on the pillow. On the sheets.
He looked up, almost involuntarily.
And found Draco’s eyes already on his.
They know.

Crown Prince Draco & The Most Powerful Wizard Harry
Sometimes I think about the universe of the Merlin series, and then I think about Drarry.
Imagine a world where Draco is the heir to the throne, and Harry is the most powerful wizard, bound by a prophecy and driven by his own agenda. He knew Draco would die, and he knew exactly how. He was, in a way, an observer of this tragic story. But the longer he spent with Draco, the more he realised he didn’t want the young king to die - and that he was prepared to save him, even at the cost of his own life.
