Nor'easters (shown on the left) are very similar to hurricanes (shown on the left), they share gale force winds, severe damage, and a counterclockwise rotation. However, nor'easters unlike hurricanes do not have an eye, or center of the storm. Flooding, major waves, and rain are a few other characteristics the two share. A hurricane is a tropical storm, a nor'easter on the other hand is not, although a hurricane can form in a tropical storm environment.Â
