Talhopper, where have you been?
Well, let's start with it's been an amazing year. I've been busy getting my nail specialist license, settling into my career and learning how to be a better me. Things have been rough, we lost Marley my page mascot, best friend, spirit animal and so much more to not just me but also my family. A month later my fiance's father who we cared for passed and that was even more tough. Not only my fiance's father but also a huge part of my life. I will never forget him telling me how proud he was that I had gotten my license. After that managing life, my job and my creativity was a difficult juggling act that I'm still trying to figure out. BUT I'm so excited to share more and have more time to show you all how much I've improved. If you've read this far thank you for listening!
P.S. - we have a new addition to our family, meet Elizabeth 'Betty Boots' talhopper. Okay it's not talhopper but you get the point. 😉
A little bit of what I've been up to!
Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
I've been busy working my bum off and had a few deaths in my family so I've had to take a breather from social media. You can follow me on insta @talhopper where I'm better about posting. But I'll be posting again after the holidays! Thank you for following and liking and loving life. 💖💖💖

I loveeee the way these turned out!! I wanted something summery and fun but I also wanted to practice artwork. I needed bling too! I was really inspired by Kirsty from Naio Nails because she did a sharpie flamingo recently and it was freaking gorgeous!
The products I used are Glam and Glits To-A-Tee, EZflow Silver Screen, and CND clear acrylics. I also used Max Estrada's Gummy Jelly and No Wipe GEL Top Coat. The artwork was done with acrylic paints by hand.
I did this overlay on myself because 4 nails on my other hand broke ðŸ˜. I really loved the set I did on my mom too and wanted something fun so I just kind of went crazy. I'm still learning acrylics so they're not perfect but I freaking LOVE them. I used CND clear acrylic with Glam and Glits Blue Lilly on my index and middle finger. I used white acrylic I have left from school and it didn't stand out white enough imo so I went over that with some acrylic paint.Â
On my pinky I used a mix of clear and some UV activated pigment powder (@solarcolordust Magenta) that I got from my good friend @dieclops. I also used Lechat's Perfect Match Hologram Diamond and faded it toward the tip. I placed some swarovski crystals on a few nails and adhered them with Max Estrada's Gummy Jelly and No wipe gel topcoat. My mom only lost one stone from her set and she's had them on for a week, does the dishes/cleans daily. SO proud 😂. This stuff is so awesome.
Gel Snake Nails! I know I'm posting these really late!! To be honest I just kind of forgot about it and posted it literally every where else. I wanted to try something with gel polish where you put a sheer color on top (Finger Paints Main Art-traction) and use clear top coat (shiny no wipe by Max Estrada) to make the color underneath (Finger Paints Who do you He-art) show through, I thought that the top color would be bright enough to stand out but uh... it didn't really work. The design was free handed with acrylic paints and a gold polish Sally Hansen Infinity Band. My friend sent me some cutesy plastic gems in the mail and I used it as an opportunity to use Gummy Jelly by Max Estrada. Those things were seriously stuck on there. I had to drill some of them off lol.

So I FINALLY got a gel light and ordered some gummy jelly and the no wipe top coat from enailcouture. I freaking love it. There are probably better products to use to do these built up gel droplets but I was just messing around with it as I don’t have any gems yet. I put Sinful Colors Orange cream as a base color and the rest is acrylic paints and the little gem looking things are just a holographic glitter piece with built up gel. I also built up the gummy jelly on top of the lady bugs to make them more 3D.Â

I loveee this http://zandraart.tumblr.com/post/160474765911/patterns artwork by @zandraart so naturally I needed it on my nails. I had a hard time making a decision on which piece of art because they are all beautiful, seriously seriously beautiful. I know it’s not fall but there will be fox nails in my future I know that much. lol For product I used Essie Lillacism and China Glaze Swanky Silk, the rest is acrylic paint. My thumb was the same color as my index finger so I just didn’t include any shots of it, I was being a little lazy. :P
Poppies for memorial day!  I used sinful colors I'm bushing and the polish on my thumbs and pointer fingers are color club harp on it with finger paints colorful collage over the top. I tried to recreate a look from a lighter my fiance has with a bunch of watercolor flowers and some ladybugs on it. It’s really pretty and I thought the poppy would be perfect for memorial day.
Cthulhu Nails! :)
Tutorial here
I wanted to do something simple with a little added detail so I did some easy cherry blossoms with a cardinal. I freakin love them guys. This is one of those times when I wish I had gel! Next month though!! I keep promising that I will do a tutorial and I’m also getting a tripod next month so it’s a very likely possibility!!
The polish I used is Sinful Colors Zincing of you and Sally Hansen Color Therapy Cool Cucumber. The design is acrylic paint.
I did these for a client at school, she's getting married and wanted some blinged out wedding nails!! They ended up looking so cute! Her fiance helped pick out a lot of what she got done, it was really sweet, they had a little collaboration going. We used Milani Electric Pink and we sponged the tips with China Glaze Fairy Dust. For the ring finger we did OPI My Signature Is ‘DC with a coat of My Voice is a Little Norse and Finger Paints Colorful Collage. She also wanted some stones on her thumbs and above the I in I do.Â

WOOOO!! Second set of acrylic nails done! And they are on my mom! It was a fun day. I shaped them up a bit more after that first picture (my phone was low on battery and uncooperative) and used Sinful Colors polish. I sponged the fade from the tips up in Love Nails and put Green Ocean over the top. When we got back to my house I did the rest.
This original design is by Copycat Claws. I've done it once before on myself a few years ago and I knew my mom would love it because she's a turtle fanatic. It's a really simple yet beautiful design. I used acrylic paints to do the design, taking little flakies from Green Ocean and adding them to the back of the turtle in a shell pattern on her ring fingers.
Succulent nails!!! first time trying these, but I thought it would look great against the polish color (Pure Ice It’s all a bluer the design is acrylic paint). I loveeee it. I have quite a bit to do this weekend and so I went a little less intricate on the other hand but I love both looks!!! I think they would look great mixed together as well.  I also did an acrylic overlay on myself at the beginning of the week as practice so if they are looking a little different that’s why! It is very difficult to lay acrylic with your offhand. My instructor said it was a great first attempt at doing it on myself though!Â
