HIS LOVE
THE HEIAN ERA
It was then that a flicker of movement caught his eye. A young woman, barely more than a girl, had stumbled into his chamber. Her clothes were tattered, and her face was smeared with dirt and tears. Yet, there was a defiant spark in her eyes that intrigued Sukuna.
"Who dares enter my domain?" His voice was a low, menacing growl that echoed through the chamber.
The girl straightened, her fear palpable but her resolve unshaken. "I am Aiko," she said, her voice steady despite the quiver in her limbs. "I have come to plead for my village. We are plagued by curses, and many have died. I was told that only the King of Curses could lift this blight."
Sukuna laughed, a sound that sent shivers down Aiko's spine. "And what makes you think I would help you, little one? Do you not know who I am?"
"I do," Aiko replied, meeting his gaze unflinchingly. "But I also know that even a king of curses must have something he desires. I am willing to do whatever it takes to save my people."
Sukuna's interest was piqued. It had been centuries since anyone had dared to approach him with such bravery, and even longer since someone had intrigued him. "Anything, you say? Very well. I will lift the curse on your village, but in return, you will stay here and serve me."
Aiko's heart pounded in her chest, but she nodded. "I accept."
With a wave of his hand, Sukuna sent a wave of dark energy rippling through the air. Aiko felt it pass through her, a cold shiver that seemed to seep into her very bones. "It is done," Sukuna said. "Your village is freed from the curses. Now, you belong to me."
Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Aiko served Sukuna faithfully, tending to his every need. She learned quickly that beneath his monstrous exterior lay a being of immense power and intelligence. He was ruthless, but there were moments when she caught glimpses of something moreâan ancient, weary soul burdened by his own existence.
One evening, as Aiko brought Sukuna his meal, she dared to ask, "Why do you bring curses upon the world, Sukuna-sama?"
Sukuna looked at her, his expression unreadable. "Because the world deserves it," he replied. "Humans are weak, treacherous creatures. They destroy everything they touch. I am simply giving them what they deserve."
"But not all humans are like that," Aiko argued. "There are those who are kind, who strive to make the world better. My village is proof of that."
Sukuna's gaze softened for a moment. "Perhaps," he said quietly. "But it is too late for me to change. I am what I amâa curse."
Aiko stepped closer, placing a hand on Sukuna's arm. "It is never too late," she whispered. "Change can come to anyone, if they are willing to accept it."
For a long moment, Sukuna said nothing. Then, he reached out and gently cupped Aiko's face in his hand. "You are a strange one, Aiko. But perhaps, you are right."
From that day forward, something shifted between them. Sukuna's heart, long encased in ice, began to thaw. He still ruled his dark realm with an iron fist, but there were moments of softness, moments when he allowed himself to hope for something more.
And Aiko, the girl who had dared to face the King of Curses, found herself falling for the monster who had once terrified her. In each other, they discovered something they had never thought possibleâa chance at redemption, and a glimmer of light in the darkest of places.
