They wait in the form of restlessness, longing, and the persistent feeling that something is missing.

Maybe the longing isn’t for escape, but for return.

To the parts of ourselves we numbed in order to survive.

Perhaps we cannot release what we refuse to feel.

Maybe shame is released the moment it no longer lives in the dark.
