sounds like a person with a psychotic delusion honestly, so if i were the cashier i’d just do it. unless they brought a ton of items and/or were coming in every day and holding up the lines. cashiers manually enter bar codes all the time when something doesn’t scan. but of course most people can’t tell what constitutes a delusion, so i get thinking that the request is strange, but the jump to gawking at the person with a sarcastic “amazing” is… yeah, personally i wouldn’t do that if someone was asking something harmless. the person literally believes that lasers will taint their food, they’re not just saying that to be weird, and it must have been hard for them to ask because they know it sounds crazy. and if you scanned them, the person would be paying good money for food that is inedible. yeah, yeah, “supposed to be a humor post”, i’m “overthinking it”. idk, it’s difficult for nt and even most nd people to spot when someone is psychotic, i understand, but you can start with recognizing that food tampering delusions are extremely popular. anyway, i’m talking to myself in this post, it’s not like the tweet’s op will see it.
