I actually love this!!! I’ve always thought that toby is definitely a giant nerd (which he probably tries to hide so that he looks ‘cooler’), and as a Pokémon nerd myself - I agree with this big time 😼

hmmmm I get this!! though dialogue is my favourite thing to write, I do get how it can be difficult to make it sound ‘realistic’ and not, like, cringe lol - especially arguments

I think one of the biggest things I try to remember when writing fights is that a lot of the time - anger brings out the worst in people

arguments are often non-linear, and people often say things that they don’t mean just because they’re hurt and don’t want to admit it, or because they’re just so pissed that whatever shitty thoughts they’ve pushed down come flying to the surface

filter usually goes out the window, and that’s how a tiny little disagreement can turn into a full blown fight - petty comments, jabs about things they’ve fought about before, things that they don’t mean but say anyway just because they’re riled up - I think these are all hallmarks of an argument blown outta proportion tbh

like in that dealer!toby fic I wrote, reader was calling him out on his bullshit so he hits her with a ‘yea well at least I never fucked a guy just so he’d get me high’ like hello??? relevance???

that’s the thing with arguments tho is that (often times) the angrier a person gets (or the more they feel backed into a corner) they start lashing out regardless of if what they’re saying is even fuckin true or not

it’s usually less of a case of:

‘I’m mad at you and here’s why’

it’s more:
