being recognized for his power is like a key point for his character. that's literally all he wants, to be recognized for his skill and greatness. that's the reason he wanted to become a wizard. he didn't get what he rightfully deserved and turned to the dark arts and black magic.

when DE compliments his hard work, he doesn't even react. in the past he tried very hard for her approval, like that was all he did. everything he was doing was because DE gave him approval, recognized him, and that was enough for him to join the COD.

we see him in the laboratorium update literally getting mad that DE praises poison mushroom and not him when he's the one doing all the dirty work cleaning.

at the very least i would expect a shot of him feeling proud of himself and his work. i can only assume it's been a while since he's gotten any praise from her so it would've been even more important to him.

but no, nothing.

i don't think licorice is second guessing DE's plans, or is going to join the good side. unless he's really wants to save himself. i think if the COD crashes and burns, he'll probably go down with it. maybe he's just a bit disillusioned with the whole 'war' thing going on idk.

but i think out of everyone in the cod, aside from pomegranate cookie because she was there to witness DE's transformation, he would know just how dangerous DE really is at this point, which could explain weariness.

i mean all of the cod probably do but he's the one who studied magic idk

or maybe im just yapping and this is nothing because licorice being cowardly is also a character trait and im digging way too deep

like yeah an equivalent of a god is right next to you, id be scared too

does make me wonder if DE ever told any of the COD about her transformation and what she was planning to do. probably not.
