started watching the flight from legundos pov and i have to point out
the celestialmetals are a friend group, but are they really all that good for each other? sure it's fun to watch them be together but for a group that's supposed to be friends, it doesn't really seem that when serious things start to happen
they reassure each other constantly but also push each other's problems aside to focus on another's. issue get met with, 'okay but there's this bigger problem and other people need our help more.' they're all so self sacrificing that they're not really helping each other?
maybe they're helping in the only way they know how, but it doesn't really seem to be resolving anything.
and i can't help but notice, and maybe i'm being a bit biased since I'm a tf!leg main but in stressful situations, it's often legs that gets sort of pushed to the side. that someone else needs more comfort than him. more reassurance. just gets brushed over. which definitely isn't always the case!
though i've noticed tf!legs is sort of a little more distant? mostly just watching his friends from a distance. still caring and wanting them to be safe. just not as close. then again im only on vod 20 so maybe this is a nothing burger
Ok I love Michael Mike Ro Ghost Jr. as much as the next person but what if. An AU where Pete is the one that takes his place in Paradise.
Instead of Pete being the only causality, in some nightmare of a real-life miracle. He was the only one that survived that night.
An average, run of the mill frat party to kick off the school year. A little hazing here and there, rituals needed to be upheld. Music loud enough to cause permanent ear damage. Drunk idiots stumbling around.
It all went horribly wrong. So quickly.
The sounds of screams, made up of so many people. The sounds of people dying. People who Pete could do nothing at all to help. It was permanently etched into his mind. The smoke and flames, engulfing the barn quicker than anything he could imagine. Even now, he could breath in fresh air and be left with nothing but the scent of ash.
He tried. Tried in a moment of desperation to break down the barn door. But nothing he did helped. It was stuck, and he had nothing but his hands. The skin quickly started to burn and peel. Blisters forming from the sheer heat of just being a few seconds too close. The wood was burning too quickly. He was only one person. And all he could do was watch. Standing helplessly. Being useless.
Pete couldn't go back to his old life. To Captial College, to Alpha Alpha Alpha. Not anywhere. Not after that. Not after the blood of several people would be blamed on his hands. He was the only survivor, who wouldn't think it was him? Any sane person would.
With no where else to go, he booked a ticket to Paradise City. Trying to run away from guilt of something that was never really his fault in the first place. And if he died there, with no one else to remember him by? Well, maybe he deserved that.
I have... many thoughts of s2 ep 4 but honestly I don't think I can type them out in a way that'll make sense
instead I'm just going to talk about my thoughts on how KADE as a school and how none of it makes any sense to me
most likely spoilers for season 2 from this point forward
lets start with the subjects.
Alchemy makes sense, magic related classes when many students probably use it makes sense, Undead 101 seems to be the equivalent to biology which also makes sense
Then there's Rehabilitation.
This Post by @/summerfandoms mentions how the class seems more similar to a human social studies class ('It’s more like a social studies class rather than a place being used to help students change their behavior or even their thinking.') and I agree, mostly in how it's presented in season 2. In season 1 it did seem to focus more on empathy and understanding of emotions especially with the infamous empathy test which made sense, if it's a school focused on students eventually blending in then starting with basic emotions and understanding a concept like empathy meaning they're less likely to see humans as prey and more as equals.
Then we get to Season 2 Episode 2 where we're shown the students learning about utensils? this struck me as odd but I grew distracted by Rev and his plot that episode before I could think about it too much.
Looking back, why would it be in Rehabilitation of all classes they'd be taught about human items like forks? Wouldn't it make more sense for that to be something separate that focuses on mannerisms, cultures and even histories to have students truly understand human life and how to blend it? Having that be in Rehabilitation feels very out of place.
While normally this kind of mixing of subjects doesn't seem to be out of place, in reality (and from personal experience) I know that it is not a healthy way to teach. Having a subject be more that two things at once only causes confusion and inconsistency, an example being Undead 101 having both practical and theory classes, that is balanced and reasonable as both types of classes relate to the subject.
Rehabilitation being a social studies class focused on complex discussions like empathy, then mannerisms and social ques does not lead to a stable leaning environment nor a stable teaching style.
Speaking of stable learning environment, the student organisation is some of the least organised I've seen.
#also im a bit confused on how kade works? are they all in the same grade. i feel like it's implied that mark and sera have both been there #for a while. do they just repeat the grade if their rehabilitation isn't good enough? why are they even there in the first place #bella makes it seem like a decent place to be but if the point is to blend in with humans #are they just failures of a monster and end up at kade? like maybe this is explained later idk
In the above image are excellent questions brought up by @/shyeheehee in the tags of this post on their thoughts on s2 ep4, I had been wondering similarly for a while.
With how KADE is structured it would make more sense for there to be years and there to be examples of students who have graduated... and yet there are none.
There is no mention as far as I remember of anyone entering KADE and graduating, no mention of how long the school has been in existence... nothing. The closest we seem to get to previous students is of course Harrah, Mino and Seabasstian who all died before they could graduate and with them all seeming to be at very different 'stages' of rehabilitation.
In order to try make sense of the timeline, I had been assuming the school year started before Rev enrolled and he started about a month into the school year, which would explain how everyone else seems much more comfortable in the school than him.
But thinking it over... it does seem like Sera and Mark have been attending KADE for quite some time, possibly even repeating a year. That changes a lot more than it seems.
For starters... what does this say about them as people? did they fail rehabilitation? Did they not succeed in reaching a certain bench mark to move onto the next year? what does this mean?
Then we move onto clubs such as the Poetry club which... is concerning. How were Mary and Roman able to slip so easily though the cracks? (paraphrased from this post by @/summerfandoms) Where is the genuine care for these students?
The students aren't organised in any meaningful way, we don't even know who is who's roommate aside from Mark and Rev. So why? Are they all in the same year? does the school only provide a single year of education to 'rehabilitate' students before they go to the human world? It doesn't make much sense
I don't have many conclusions but I do hope we get some form of an answer for both the lack of structure and sense in both the Academic and Student Body aspects of this school. Due to my thoughts being much too complex on the subject of The Sanatorium I decided not to include it, instead I once again bring your attention to the post I have been referencing by @/summerfandoms throughout this as they put many of my same beliefs into better words than I could manage.

thanks for crediting me, im going to be so honest i haven't touched any of season 2. sort of just fell out of interest.
BUT i was hoping to see if the world building was going to be a little more fleshed out/consistent in S2. that doesn't seem to be the case from what you've mentioned.
which is fine, i guess? not every story needs tons worldbuilding. but in a school setting, it's a little disappointing we don't know much about how any of it works. like you said, we don't even know what characters are roommates besides rev and mark.
which isn't huge but it's still some flavor that would add a little something. (maybe freakshow isn't as focused on the side characters, but it could help flesh them out a little more too idrk)
it could be a lore reason for why so much is still not fully explained, but it just seems like writing inconsistencies/kade was never fully thought out, even if it's the main setting of the show. makes sense why rehabilitation class is so different from s1. it loses its direction on what sort of class it's suppose to be.
same thing with kade being a school for rehabilitation. we still don't know what that really means, and it feels like there should be some context for how it functions. are they integrating into human society fully?
what causes them to fail? how long do they stay at kade?
do they completely forgo their monster identity?
are they shunned completely from their society once fully rehabilitated among humans?
i have lots of questions.
i do hope some aspects of the writing continue to improve for the fans who like freak show but there are some places where it does feel like it's a little flat/not given enough attention.

Okay uhhh I have a The Flight Smp Oc, Lyre(Lie-ur) but I don't have any art of him right now so
I wrote out how his Awakening would have probably happened. Might be a little cringe but whatever.
For a little context Lyre is an avian, and he's someone who self isolates. While he longs for real connections, he can't seem to make any. Whether it's a fault of his own or not. Typical run of the mill loser because I'm not that creative.
I hope I wrote his magic archetype obvious enough, but if it's not then TLDR: it's Sonokinesis. Or Sound Manipulation.
The way Lyre's awakening presented itself, he was a little late compared to most of the academy. It was a late, quiet night. The fireplace was roaring, crackling with flames Pyro kept adjusting for no real reason until Scott snapped at him to stop.
The Vulpes dorm was lively, even at the late hour. The buzzing excitement and dread of the first few weeks were still going strong, bringing together most of the dorm.
Some were at the tables, playing board games and subsequently losing. Others, were on the couches, resting and chatting about their day. There was even a non magical item that somehow a quiet tune played from, filling in any of the empty silence and lifting the atmosphere.
Lyre was minding himself, busy with studying the notes he had taken earlier in the day. He was stuck with an unhatched dragon egg, and if all he could find was dragon care books, then they were as good as useless if he had no dragon. He swallowed the frustration that rised in his throat like acidic bile, the feathers trapped beneath layers of cloth and bandages itching uncomfortably.
The sound around him felt as though it was supposed to be comforting, but it only felt oppressive. Like a physical barrier that he couldn't get through. A mockery. Connections he couldn't quite make, even if he tried. He gripped the wood of the pencil marginally tighter, not that anyone would notice if they were to pay attention.
He was fine, it was just the thousands of thoughts bouncing around his head, flooding his mind that was making it difficult to study. That if he just focused harder, his head would clear. Relief did not come, no matter how much he willed it to. Instead he was filled with a cold sensation, unsure if it was dread or fear. It drowned every one of his nerves, until he wasn't quite sure any part of him truly exsisted.
For some sudden odd reason, Lyre felt as though that he was not at the wobbly wooden chair that wasn't quite comfortable. That he purposefully chose to sit on, because it was the farthest away from everyone. He was not at the beautifully carved table, which had all his books and papers splayed out in a labyrinth that made sense only to him.
He was not in the Vulpes dorm, surrounded by strangers he may very well never understand. Resigned to the fact if were already set in stone. He was not in a magical academy full of horrors and dragons, to learn to be the best mage he could be. He was not anywhere that mattered.
Lyre was alone.
He no longer heard the familiar crackling of a fireplace, instead replaced by the screams of wood slowly being set ablaze.
The sound of once playful chatter turned hushed and overreaching, every word and vibrato having some sort of ulterior meaning.
The low, invisible hum of magical energy, surrounding him. Surrounding everyone. Every person, every object. It ran through every hallway and room, filled every page and scratch of ink.
Every sound, every vibration felt so distant as if Lyre were experiencing a memory and yet assaulting his senses without mercy. A low register that prodded at his very psyche, his being. His soul. And it refused to be ignored.
The once joyful tune of instruments working together in perfect, fleeing from a wooden device screeched to a halt. It no longer simply filled the gaps of silence, gentle and docile. It commanded over it. Screams and suprised yells, filled the dorm room, violently ricocheting off every surface. Lanterns shattered, glass cracked and sung pitifully under pressure.
It was only ever meant to be forgotten, pushed aside in the background. Now it demanded and stole attention, until the very creation it came from had started to smoke and ceased to work, ending the terror that came from it's gears. It was pure silence.
The faint barrier separating him from the present had faded. Lyre was back, though he had never really left in the first place, physically. He was aware of it all, too aware. But now his body ached, felt as though someone had taken his soul and slammed it in the very ground. Over and over, until it was broken and decided to try and fix itself in a manner that wasn't quite right.
The silence was a stark, patient presence as he tried to collect his bearings. It was only then that the realized, he wasn't sitting in the chair he was in moments prior. His vision and the world was tilted, as papers had spread around him like it was fallen snow. His head throbbed as he slowly forced himself to sit up.
Up until now, the silence had been a welcome protection. A respite from himself, his thoughts. But now, with the recognition that every single member of Vulpes was staring at him. Some in shock, others in fear. And some were still crouched to the ground, trying to force away the pain and ringing in their ears as if it were a physical entity.
Shame burned through his body, hotter than the wood that were just lit aflame moments ago. All that was left in the fireplace was remnants of warmth, ash, and a moment of peace ruined.
Lyre was left with the sinking feeling that he had something to do with this, and yet his soul already knew. Only a single, hushed word came out of his mouth. It did nothing to fix the silence, the broken musical device. It didn't re-light the now smoldering fireplace. It didn't fix his nonexistent relationships or grant him new opportunities to make them.
The dead silence lingered on, overstayed it's welcome. Unease and trepidation began to bubble, as Lyre's feathers began to itch uncomfortably once again.

when 4c joined the red kingdom. i always liked the blue kingdom, but just seeing the red kingdom from 4c's perspective makes it feel so much more special? i don't really know how to describe it.
