i want to write about why this man means so much to me, considering i was a CR7 fan for so long. yeah he kicks the ball pretty well, has the vision of a falcon, and has the most elegant way of dribbling i have ever seen. but i love lionel messi because of the person he is: an introverted dude that just loves doing the thing hes best at. hes a family man who doesnt like the spotlight too much. he simply wants to bring joy to the people he loves.

as an introvert myself, seeing messi thrive and succeed brings me immense joy. to me sometimes it feels like only extroverts are allowed to have these iconic moments which go down in history. but everything messi does is iconic, and he never ever has to brag about them! he just DOES IT because he wants to win the game. his goal isnt to be the best player of all time, he just wants to win trophies with his team because thats the whole point of this sport! i wont say he has no ego, but he knows his worth and this tournament he didnt back down when things were against him!

messi was criticized for so long for being a poor leader. hes not loud enough, he doesnt lift up the team, he cant lead. and yet the past 2 tournaments he was a part of, he has silenced every single one of those critics. i think people generally believe that captains and leaders need to have extroverted traits to be successful. well if you havent yet, please listen to his copa america pregame speech. the man wants to win because of the joy he knows he will bring his family, team, and their fans. personal achievements mean almost nothing to him, he just enjoys the recognition. the team trophy is always the most important thing to him. to be so massive that you are regularly called GOD by your fans and even sometimes peers, and STILL not letting your ego take over… its so admirable to me lol

i feel like i’ve rambled too much but i hope this somewhat clears up to my mootz why i love this dude so much. even if you lost today you would have been the greatest player of all time. but i am so happy you won because i know the joy it brings you and your loved ones. enjoy your night la pulga 🤍💙
