ButterCup Whitewater Slalom Series

This was the first year of for Jim Falls to host the ButterCup Whitewater Slalom Races. A great group of paddlers from across Wisconsin and Minnesota showed up with OC1s and OC2s, and K1s.  I even saw a C1 on the course.

The majority of the paddlers were veteran Buttercup racers, everyone showed up ready to give their best.  And everyone had a good time

Since I was a kid I've had a love for canoeing.  Ten years ago I started whitewater paddling and I love canoeing even more. 

Start on the flat water, learn your strokes and understand how they effect the boat. Learn to paddle your canoe:

in a straight line,

sideways,

and spin it on a dime.

Then move up to gently flowing water. Skills to be working on include:

upstream ferries

catching eddies

and peel-outs
