Unless there’s a party, then we try and hide away from people and pretend we don’t exist. To no avail, for the most part. Well, she’s a kid. They’re pretty tough. It helps having you and Ellery, too, I think. You two seem unshakeable for the most part, too. Recent.. happenings aside. 

I’m glad to know we’re on the same page. I wouldn’t.. necessarily say we’re unshakeable. But we try to be. Perks of being an empath, maybe. Repression is quite literally my most important skill. 

Good thing about being here, I guess, is people don’t necessarily bother you when you need to be alone, hm? How is Salem, though? 

Until there’s a party. Then it all changes. She’s okay, she’s resilient. I’m beginning to think nothing bothers her. 

Logic dictates that, at least. I’d rather be here that out there alone like I was. 

I’m more of a lone wolf but alone turned out really badly. Ellery would probably have my head if I proposed us trying to go it alone again. Plus the whole having a kid thing alters your priorities. 

What a fantastic place Carden Manor is, hm? I wonder what it’d be like having a safe haven that didn’t have in-fighting, vampires, and whatever else it’s thrown at you the past few months. 

I usually just stick with reminding myself that it’s better than the alternative. Something about strength in numbers, being with your people. 

Without the constant threat of trauma and death, I’m.. having a hard time adjusting to normalcy. I’d also probably commit several crimes for a massage and a good night’s rest. 

If there’s one thing I know about trauma, it’s that it loves to never go away. And if there’s one thing I know about living here, there’s no such thing as without the constant threat of trauma. Constant hyper vigilance is the normalcy. 

Yes yes, I’m staying outside, but I figure that maybe one of the witches would take pity and know a spell or something to get rid of the smell.

Good news and bad news from my rounds this morning. Good news is that everything is pretty quiet. Bad news is, the local wildlife has gotten bolder in our absence and I got sprayed by a skunk. I think this is that karma my baba was always talking about.

I will not bet on Victoria’s tears, she’ll martyr herself for the next five years and probably never shed a tear again and she probably needs a good cry… or ten, after what happened. Ellery on the other hand…

No injuries, but just needed to see the two of you together, for my own selfish reasons. I’m so very glad you’re okay, Noah.

Marry me. The world can end any day, any time. If all of this has taught me anything is… Life is short. Even when it feels like you’ll have an eternity.

That’s going to take some getting used to. A drop would do wonders for headache, though.
