Just Posting What I See Fit

- firstly, they aren’t real people, this is a story- it isn’t disrespectful to Clint’s wife cos she is a character and most clintasha fans aren’t willing him to cheat, we’re wishing the writing had taken a completely different direction and that she never existed as a character in the first place. A lot of shippers feel that farm family (+brutasha) was bad writing and made no sense and would prefer clintasha as a pairing; as viewers we don’t have to take things at face value, we’re allowed to have our own opinions about where the story should go

-shipping them isn’t invalidating platonic m/f friendships, it’s not making some wider comment about how u see platonic relationships in general, it’s not saying platonic relationships between men and women don’t exist, it’s merely saying u don’t see clintasha that way, which again is perfectly fine and valid because it’s a story and they are characters and so as viewers we can interpret their relationship however we want

-a lot of clintasha shippers like natasha + steve as a platonic relationship for example, or clint + wanda. We just see clintasha as a romantic bond which is a valid interpretation

-clintasha is canon in the comics and in the first movie they were potentially being set up as a romantic couple (this was literally marvel’s original plan) and this is when most mcu clintasha shippers started shipping them; the farm family was randomly revealed in age of Ultron with no prior set up so how can shippers be expected to just stop shipping them? Like, the narrative completely shifted in AoU- farm family and brucenat were given no prior groundwork so acting like clintasha has no basis in canon is ridiculous

-as a romantic relationship it’s very healthy; they have a deep bond, understand each other, have saved each other multiple times, are best friends (which is great groundwork for a romantic relationship) and they respect each other, so acting like it’s problematic to ship them is a real reach.

So we all know from AoU that Natasha is very close with Clint’s kids and she seems to have a very special bond with Lila. ‘Auntie Nat’ is totally Lila’s favorite. So I was thinking… What if Natasha started teaching Lila some basic ballet steps when the girl was around 3 years old. It was enough to make Lila fall in love with dancing. With her father’s precision, her mother’s gentleness and Natasha’s skills she can make one hell of a dancer. So when she was a little older she said she wants to take dance classes. Everyone agreed, Natasha even supported the idea financially. By the time IW happens, Lila is already a skilled ballet and conteporary dancer.

Then Endgame happens. (You guys know what I’m talking about)

Let’s skip that and now we’re few months after Endgame. The family grieves, and it’s hard, but life goes on. So the kids come back to school, Lila comes back to dancing.

A talent show happens at school and the only thing the parents know about it is that Lila is one of the contestants.

“I don’t wanna jinx it” she says when they ask her what she’s doing.

The day comes. Everyone are in the audience. There’s already been few contestants on the stage and The Snap is a very common inspiration for the performances. When Lila comes on stage, both Laura and Clint stop breathing. Lila is wearing a black flowy dress, she has few red streaks in her hair. An arrow necklace rests on her neck and a silver spider pin sits on her chest. A black widow spider.

When they ask her what her piece is about she says “It’s about my Aunt. She’s the one who taught me my first dance steps, she’s the reason I love dancing so much. Last time I saw her was before the Snap. We danced a little. But she had an important job to do and she had to leave for a while. And-” at this point Lila’s voice is cracking. It’s getting harder to speak. She looks at her parents and sees them holding hands, both teary eyed. Clint slightly nods for her to continue. “-And she hugged me, and told me to take care of everyone, especially dad, and… That she’s gonna call in few days. But then the Snap happened. She survived. But I didn’t. And when we came back… She was already gone…” A sob escapes her before she continues. “Dad told me that she died so I could live. So this is my way to say Thank You. Auntie Nat, this is for you.” And she dances. And it’s beautiful. It’s an old russian lullaby Nat was sometimes singing her when she was little. When she’s done she gets a standing ovation. She looks at Clint who cannot stop the tears from falling. But as soon as Lila is off the stage, Clint leaves. Because it’s too much to handle. Flashbacks from Vormir haunt his mind again.

Lila finds him sitting on a bench on a school hallway, his head in his hands. She says nothing, just sits down next to him and leans her head on his shoulder.

“I miss her so much, dad”

Clint wraps his arm around her and kisses her forehead. “Yeah, me too, honey. You have no idea. But you know what? She would have been so proud of you. So proud. Come on now. If they won’t give you the 1st place for that, they will meet the tip of my arrow.”

She obviously wins and Clint puts the trophy right next to Natasha’s picture in the living room.

I was going to wait to post this tomorrow and work on commissions today instead, but my whole house is sick with a mystery fever, and I need a pick-me-up. 

I’ve never done a prom scene, but this was a lot of fun for all the lighting and depth of field effects. Someone mentioned in a reblog that they like seeing the process, so at some point, I’ll put up the various layers of this so folks can see how it came together.
