Pie Town is a small community of about 200 people in western New Mexico, founded in the early 1920s by Clyde Norman, a World War I veteran & homesteader who gained fame for baking pies with dried apples for travelers along U.S. Route 60.

When Coronado arrived, the Tiguex population was at its peak with more than 20,000 people settled along 30 miles of the Rio Grande. Kuaua was at the north end of their province. First settled in the early 1300s and occupied through 1600, the pueblo spanned 6 acres and featured approximately 1,200 surface dwellings and storage rooms, 6 underground ceremonial kivas, and 3 rectangular plazas.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi was built between 1869 and 1886 in Santa Fe, inspired by Archbishop Jean-Baptiste Lamy. It is a historic landmark, known for its Romanesque Revival architecture, stained-glass windows, and its historical significance on the Santa Fe Trail. The site includes remnants of the original parish church, La Parroquia, which was built in 1714.

Alamogordo was founded in 1898 by the Eddy brothers, who brought the railroad to the area, envisioning the city as a rail junction. They named it "Alamogordo" (large cottonwood tree). Initially, it was a dry community, because the brother's first attempted settlement got out of hand...Carlsbad.
