first it was him just being extra generous, ordering pizza and sandwiches and donuts most shifts. then it was selling trinity his car for thousands below market value when hers crapped out on her. then it was letting jack keep his favorite hoodie. finally, it was dennis being bequeathed adamson’s favorite stethoscope.

it was a nice stethoscope. not hospital issued, a brand that had shuttered during covid. supply chain issues apparently.

jack urgently questioned, “where’d you get that?”

dennis was fiddling with it while looking confused, “um, robby just gave it to me. i think he went to get some air.”

“shit.”

jack ran to the elevator, not bothering to reply to dennis’s, “wait, what’s wrong.”
