“  leave  me  alone .  ”  a  phrase  she  herself  throws  out  like  it’s  her  own  personal  mantra .  being  on  the  receiving  end  leaves  a  sting ;  they’ve  switched  roles .  

        but  how  could  she ?  the  evidence  of  robin’s  crisis  is  strewn  about  the  room—  a  stool  shoved  to  the  floor ,  shards  of  broken  glass  scattered  across  the  carpet,  droplets  of  blood  leave  a  trail  to  robin’s  hand .  it  isn’t  difficult  to  discern  from  where  it’s  come .  an  empty  frame  is  cast  aside  and  a  flying  graysons  poster  in  his  hands .  she  understands . 

        grief  works  in  strange  ways .  it  isn’t  so  neat  and  clean  as  books  make  it  out  to  be .  the  stages  and  their  order  are  bullshit .  the  feelings  come  in  waves .  there  is  no  cycling  through  them  all  with  acceptance  as  the  final  end  all .  anger  happens ,  guilt  happens ,  sadness  happens ,  and  they  happen  when  they  so  please  with  no  regard  to  convenience .  some  days  are  easier ,  others  are  barely  manageable .  sometimes  there  is  a  trigger  ,  sometimes  there’s  not .  grief  is  random ,  grief  is  messy ,  grief  is  painful .  and  it  doesn’t  end .  just  like  love—  it  changes ,  but  does  not  disappear .  it’s  a  part  of  him ,  just  as  her  own  sorrows  are  a  part  of  her .

        she  can  take  that  pain  away  now—  but  it’s  important  he  feel  it .  she  knows  him  to  be  someone  who ,  like  her ,  keeps  everything  tightly  locked  away .  it  isn’t  sustainable .  there  will  eventually  come  a  breaking  point .  perhaps  robin  has  hit  his .  and  strangely ,  raven  is  glad  for  it .  he’s  releasing  years  of  unspent  anger ,  years  of  tears  that  have  not  been  shed .  it  may  hurt  now ,  but  the  pressure  will  be  less  once  the  acute  pain  subsides . 

        if  it’s  space  he  needs ,  she  will  give  it  to  him— but  not  now .  no ,  now  he  is  in  crisis  and  has  hurt  himself .  as  his  close  friend ,  raven  can’t  simply  leave  him  to  his  own  devices  for  fear  of  greater  self  injury ,  purposeful  or  not . 

        after  kneeling  beside  him ,  she  gently  slips  the  poster  from  his  fingers ,  placing  it  safely  nearby ,  and  then  proceeds  to  take  his  bloodied  hand  in  her  own .  a  gentle  white  light  and  a  soft  hum  and  the  broken  skin  under  his  glove  has  mended .  she  wishes  she  could  do  the  same  for  the  wounds  in  his  heart ,  but  those  are  there  to  stay .

        her  arms  hold  him  around  the  shoulders ,  pulling  him  against  her  chest .  fingers  run  through  his  hair .

            AFTER ALL THAT HAD HAPPENED   he  didn't  think  he  would  be    back  home  .    Letting  the  team  go  then  ending  up  in  JAIL  was  not  what  he  promised  Bruce  when  he  decided  to  bring  the  Titans  back  ,    Dick  knew  the  man  was  going  to  be  DISAPPOINTED  and  still  he  made  it  back  to  the  Manor…  mostly  because  he  had  nowhere  else  to  go  .    showing  up  at  the  door  all  beaten  up  and  slightly  FEVERISH  made  Alfred  hold  back  on  scolding  him  for  being  so  reckless  ,    which  was  a  relief  while  it  lasted  .

             By  the  time  he  came  to  Bruce  was  already  there  ,    not  another  HALLUCINATION…  He  was  actually  there  .    What  happened  in  prison  was  not  something  he  was  willing  to  share  ,    he  gave  vague  answers  and  changed  the  subject  ,    not  wishing  to  talk  things  out  just  yet  ,    he  just  wanted  to  see  the  REAL  Bruce  and  hear  what  he  thought  about  the  whole  situation  with  Jerecho  still  being  alive…  was  Dick  right  ??  Or  had  he  completely  lost  it  ??  The  idea  itself  terrified  him  ,    the  GUILT  was  bound  to  eat  him  away  and  he  could  no  longer  bare  it  by  himself…  luckily  even  if  he  didn't  feel  like  speaking  Bruce  knew  enough  to  tell  what  might  have  been  troubling  him  .

         HE WAS FOUND SITTING BY HIMSELF AND WAITING  for  Bruce  and  the  others  to  finish  talking  so  he  could  go  home  and  relax  even  for  a  little  bit  .    this  patrol  with  Batman  was  a  rough  one  and  the  boy  lost  all  the  energy  he  is  always  known  for  ,    he  didn't  even  bother  to  find  Diana  who  always  greeted  him  with  the  WARMEST  hugs  ,    and  knowing  the  woman  she  was  worried  of  that  fact  and  was  there  by  him  in  an  instant  .

         Dick  never  really  had  the  chance  to  talk  to  her  as  much  as  he  did  today  ,    it  had  been  nice  until  she  asked  him  of  why  he  chose  the  name  of  Robin  ,    it  was  a  way  to  remember  his  mother  ,    it  should  have  been  something  he  would  talk  about  with  DELIGHT  for  the  memories  that  name  held  belonged  to  a  happier  time  but  he  couldn't  help  but  to  feel  a  little  gloomy  ,    perhaps  it  was  his  tiredness  speaking  and  he  didn't  notice  until  the  woman  offered  to  give  him  a  hug  ,    a  small  gesture  of  affection  he  RARELY  had  nowadays  .

          The  boy  hesitated  for  a  moment  ,    unsure  if  accepting  would  make  him  look  like  a  whiny  little  kid    ❝ You  don't  have  to—❞    he  said  ,    awkwardly  rubbing  his  arm  as  he  thought  of  a  POLITE  way  to  say  no  ,    but  she  didn't  seem  like  she  was  going  to  take  it  as  an  answer  as  her  arms  were  stretched  to  hug  him    ❝ o-okey...  sure.❞    and  with  that  he  was  SQUEEZED  between  her  arms  .    Dick  didn't  complain  ,    the  embrace  was  gentle  and  warm  just  like  his  mother's  ,    a  feeling  he  had  almost  FORGOTTEN  until  Diana  decided  to  care  for  him
