idk im really tired of 15-17 year olds who have never interacted with the gay community irl and spend too much time on tiktok trying to act like the authority on all that is lgbt+Â
mean this in the kindest possible way. if you are too young and unsafe to go to your gay community center or pride hereâs some ways you can connect to gay history.
the oral history project from act up
the lesbian herstory archives
the transgender archives of the university of victoria
the digital transgender archives
glbt historical society (digital)
lgbtq digital collaboratory
since it was suggested in the tags
anything that moves
the bisexual manifesto
the Samuel Proctor oral history project
a masterpost of lesile feinbergâs works by @genderoutlaws
more to come
the queer zine archive
the dyke march compilationÂ
paris is burningÂ
how to survive a plague
united in anger: a history of ACT UP

new york public library lgbtq archives
ok im going to #seriouspost for a second here. I don't think Harry Potter is a manifesto. I think it was a flawed passion project that millennials latched onto because of the fantasy of sticking it to their mean teachers and arbitrarily categorizing themselves (hogwarts houses; it's the thinking millennial's astrology). I think the fact that the series got popular when and how it did was very much a product of its time.
I don't think Harry Potter is the biggest symbol of JKR's bigotry. I think the most flagrant sign of that was how she responded to critics. I watched her become radicalized in real time. I watched how she doubled down on her racism when she was called out for the ways she promoted her tragically mid fantastic beasts movies. I watched her chase marginalized teenagers with a double digit follower count off of twitter for daring to criticize her thought process, and no one with any kind of power standing against her because she was the one who was paying them. This isn't to say Harry Potter is without flaws. This is to say she really didn't give a shit about that. Getting rich and powerful is a hell of a drug, and she had enough sycophants that she had no reason to care about what her critics were saying.
She was convinced that she was a martyr; a voice for the unheard; a leader for the ages, so of course her detractors were the bad guys. And I think we should take this to heart. We should see this as an example of how easy it is to get radicalized; if you think of yourself as a paragon of virtue, you are going to think that whatever you see as good and right is an objective fact. Most people don't know this, but the majority of terfs start out as trans allies. You are not immune to propaganda! You are not immune to falling into dangerous ideologies!!!
This is why the most important thing you can do as an activist is to listen. Do NOT think you're above being wrong; do NOT develop a god complex; do NOT form an identity out of being right all the time. Involve yourselves in the groups you claim to speak for. Listen to trans women; share resources that help trans women; familiarize yourself with the diversity of experiences that trans people have and the struggles they face.
No, none of you are as bad as JKR because you don't have her money or her power. You will likely never have the capacity for harm she does. But check yourselves. Do not affirm yourselves into thinking you always have the moral high ground. Watch yourselves; humble yourselves; check yourselves for signs of cult behavior and internalized prejudice. You are always learning. You will always be learning. Do not allow yourselves to get a power trip from brushing off marginalized voices.
shorthands for dumbassery that i have grown to love deeply
"how dare you say we piss on the poor" in response to someone misinterpreting your post
"_ isnt gonna fuck you" for suck up behavior
"woah. should we tell everyone? should we throw a party?" for who the fuck cares
"and what if the world was made of pudding" for when would this ever matter.
"and sharks are smooth both ways" for a group of people heatedly arguing with 1 guy who is fucking with them all
".. but its about a witch in the alps finding her lost cat" for someone trying to sanitize something to the point of absurdity
this is prime proof that this ENTIRE WEBSITE is autistic because nowhere else would a no tags post that's just an informative list about slang get this much traction.
anyway more addittions
â30-50 feral hogsâ for someone using Very Specific Scenarios to justify holding back larger policy changes
âwhat were YOU doing at the devils sacramentâ for how do you know that without being a part of it.
âanyone in this thread smoke weedâ for the shit you people are saying is so off topic this might as well be a general discussion forum

âbean soup? im allergic to beans!â for ik this doesnât work for you, but thatâs not a flaw. not everything can be for you.

The whole "lgb drop the t" movement is so obviously a psyop to make queer people destroy their communities from the inside, I'm honestly surprised anyone fell for it, let alone this many people
Like
Guaranteed, if they ever did manage to "drop the t" they would 100% make the next step "lg drop the b" (assuming that discourse isn't already happening)
All im saying is if you join a movement whose whole purpose is to mobilise the exclusion of a marginalized group, don't be surprised when they start mobilizing to exclude you
They want to drop us all
Into fucking graves
We stick together and we survive
lowkey obsessed with my own blog. it has all my favorite things and all the opinions i agree with. best place on the internet maybe ever
half of the arguments on this website are like this

you're so scared of the word queer it's fuckin funny. queerness is so anathema to whatever the fuck you're doing that it's clearly nothing any actually queer/lgbtqia+ person would want to be part of. I hope you grow up and grow a spine one day, but I'm not holding out much hope. HOPE THIS HELPS! :)
local weirdo gets offended that not every gay person wants to be called a slur
Do you not see why people believe astrology tho??
so i'm a custodian.
whenever someone does something cool like shit on the bathroom floor or get blood all over a toilet, i have to close the bathroom down by blocking the doorway with a CLOSED sign.
this sign is big and bright. it says CLOSED in four languages and has a do not enter symbol. it completely blocks the doorway. the only way to enter is to look directly at the sign and either move it or climb over it.
almost every single time i shut down a bathroom so i can suit up and clean a biohazard, someone will enter the bathroom with a dead-eyed, slack-jawed expression and try to wordlessly walk past me to use a stall.
and every single time, i have to block their path and say, "this bathroom is closed. there is one directly down the hall, marked by signs. please leave," and they either try to argue that THEY specifically should be allowed to use this one, as if they are god's most special little guy, or express shock even though they, again, had to contend with the CLOSED sign to enter.
often, i am standing there in the middle of cleaning up bodily fluids having to firmly repeat myself. they always leave angry or confused.
anyways, you clicked this button to send me an ask about astrology:
I don't care how bad life gets i'm not watching Love Island
we need to legalise learning for adults
"Punishment works!!!" We're drowning in three to four generations of people so pants-shittingly terrified of ever being wrong that half of everyone has constructed a worldview wherein they never even consider the possibility that they could be wrong and the other half behaves like one wrong move will make anything or anyone explode violently into a million irreperable pieces. I don't think it works guys
I know this might be a bold take but maybe teaching everyone from a young age that ever making a mistake will be met with unimaginable pain and misery doesn't actually encourage learning or correct behavior. If anything it creates a sense of terror so powerful it completely suffocates curiosity and exploration, thus leading to people knowing absolutely nothing but whatever is brought directly to them, which is a big problem in a world where information is so tightly controlled that a very small number of very powerful people basically have complete power over what people see and hear on a day-to-day basis when not actively seeking new and rigorously verified information from diverse and trustworthy sources.

Your yearly reminder that polyamorous people are queer in every sense that matters.
Unsupported by government, unable to marry the people we love. Risking consequences if we come out within our family, if we come out at our work, in custody arguments against a non-polyamorous person because we are considered a danger or bad influence on children. A challenge to heteronormative conceptions of what love and relationships are meant to be.
Most polyamorous people are queer to start with, because once you start questioning heteronormativity, you start asking other questions about what a sexual or romantic or committed relationship should be. But that doesn't mean that polyamory isn't inherently queer in and of itself.
Please don't forget us in your queer positivity posts. Please don't forget us when you think about what queerness encompasses.
I've seen countless people, many who are fellow queers, talk shit about poly relationships because "they never last", as if most relationships last? As if most people don't have several exes? Meanwhile I'm sitting here in my stable triad polycule that.... in a couple years I will have been in this polycule for as long as I was outside of it (you know, when I was a child). It's an open polycule too, we've all had relationships outside of the triad and we're all still good and happy with each other. My triad has outlasted my heterosexual parents' marriage by many many years.
Stop being weird about poly people. We're exactly as queer as the rest of queer people, and we need you to recognize that.
I have a couple of queer coworkers and a very queer-friendly workplace, for where we live.
The most our partner, who means the world to me and is just as much part of this relationship as my wife, has been mentioned as is "my friend".
I hate it. Jack is just as much my spouse as my wife is. But even in queer-friendly spaces it's not SAFE to say that. And that sucks fucking ass.
piss cold take. you are not oppressed in the same way & the normalization of the word âqueerâ as an umbrella term for the lgbt community is already uncomfortable for most people within it, and wanting to reclaim it as a straight cis person (i bet youâre white too) is tone deaf to all hell. aside from the sheer strangeness of pretending your struggles are anywhere near that of gay/ trans individuals (which is an identity and NOT a lifestyle choice), using a slur to feel âincludedâ is so incredibly off-base and weirdly entitled. go forge your own community like the asexuals did
Iâm an intersex nonbinary lesbian you absolute loser.
Asexuals are queer also.
okay? point still stands that being poly =/= lgbt. and this is probably news to you, but neither is asexuality. straight cis people arenât lgbt, thatâs kinda the point of the community! thatâs why you make other communities! being âqueerâ (a term i hesitate to use because of its lack of definition and history as a slur, but to use your own words) isnât just âoutlier of societyâ bruh, nothing more anti-lgbt than this entitlement shit
