If you still fail to see beyond Ariel’s appearance, then you never truly understand Ariel or the story or the message and everything this beautiful tale stands for.

Sometimes songs and the best show ideas really do come to me in the shower.🤷🏻‍♀️

This is one of those songs where I imagined a character full of regret. She stalks her first love on social media, while she is stuck in the same town, dissatisfied with how her life turned out. These lines are from the bridge, where the past is finally revealed - what drove their young love apart, and how it faded over distance and time.

Songwriting is when I am most vulnerable and yet most free… 💖

“So Secure” ironically is about a person who is largely insecure about a relationship. Her security is anchored on one person, and so she constantly lives in fear of losing that person. The song ends with this final line, summarizing her thirst for assurance… Constantly hoping somehow for the other person to respond to her unspoken fears and neediness.

I wrote this song at a time when I was figuring out where I was in life. I knew in my spirit that somehow the pains were necessary before I could unlock the wings I need to fly. There are gems to be found in the rockiest and lowest points of our journey. Gold is often found underground. Before we can rise up, we need to have the right attitude even in the lowest times, and that is never easy. But that is also what faith is - dancing even when we are broken.

It was such a poetic ending. I cried buckets. Iykyk. @netflix

Sometimes when I write songs, I like to create stories and characters outside of my comfort zone. “Not Much Of An Angel” is a story where the protagonist is also a villainess. This song is like the “bad guy” speech in movies where she illustrates how her past led her to making bad decisions. It is revealed that she was a victim of a narcissist player that broke her heart - a heart that was once innocent and trusting. She returns looking and acting like a different person, with a revenge plot in mind.
