Snippet of the kid!fic I'm working on where Olruggio gets turning into a 5/6-year-old version of himself when one of Coco's spells goes awry... Gunna work on it this weekend.
...Olruggio grabbed one of Coco’s blank papers, reaching for the pen and carefully trying to dip the tip in the small vile of ink. After several failed attempts, he huffed loudly before turning towards Agott, handing her the pen and ink. She startled before realizing what the younger was asking, dipping the pen in the ink slowly before handing Olruggio the pen back carefully.
The 5-year-old hummed as he pressed the pen to paper, drawing a few crooked arrows, misshapen boxes, zigzagged lines and finally an awkward-shaped circle outside the remaining shapes. Qifrey glanced over his head, peering at the paper with a questionable look on his face as Olruggio dropped the pen beside him before slamming his forehead against the wooden desk with a loud defeated sound. difficult
“Hands,” Olruggio groaned, “Don’t work. Too diff-cult and dumb.”
“Hey! No, no,” Qifrey started, pulling the paper out from under Olruggio’s forehead, the ink rubbing slightly as the 5-year-old turned to look at him, “We can figure this out! Right, girls?”
“It’s bad work,” Olruggio said softly, pulling his head from the table, wiping at the ink smeared across his forehead. Coco patted his back gently, “It’s okay, Ol- um, Master Olruggio. You’re just starting out!” Qifrey smiled fondly as Olruggio kicked his feet, crossing his arms tightly as a sour look crossed his face, “I’m not st-at-arting out. I’m big. And very good. And not your Master!”
Thinking of dabbling in this this weekend
Olruggio was helping Coco with one of her spells when it goes awry and ends up turning Olruggio into an 5/6-year-old version of himself. Instead of trying to fix it (Qifrey is worried it will do more damage than not if he tries his hand); they let it run its course (about a week).
Que: Olruggio trying to do stuff like spells with the clumsy 5/6-year-old hands; Tetia and Coco wanting Olruggio to play with them, and Ollie insisting he is too old to play (he also has the Impulses of an 5/6-year-old or perhaps his memories are taken until he returns to adult-form - haven't decided yet); Qifrey trying to find clothes that fit him from the girls; Tetia/ Coco being like "I've always wanted a little brother!"; Olruggio having the brain span of an 5/6-year-old when it comes to adult tasks; Olruggio getting sick cause it would be cute to have Qifrey hold him... Qifrey remembering how adorable Olruggio was when they were kids. Olruggio going about his daily struggles trying to act like an adult; Qifrey having a hard time keeping it together/ taking Ollie seriously in such a tiny form, and the girls squealing over how cute Ollie is (because he's younger and shorter than them). Olruggio having nightmares and going to Qifrey or him being afraid of the dark like most 5/6-year-olds are.
Maybe I'll start an intro tonight and see what people think... I wish i could draw.
If you ever think you’re blind, just remember i once had to call my mom to come back into the house to help me find my glasses because i couldn’t see well enough to find them on the table.

Something nobody prepares you for is that the better you get at writing the harder it becomes. beginners write freely because they don't know enough to know what's wrong. then you learn. and suddenly you can see every single flaw in real time as you're making it and you have to write anyway while your own brain is in the corner going "that's a weak verb. that transition is lazy. you've used that word three times." getting good at this is mostly just getting better at ignoring yourself.
Sleeping poorly is so embarrassing... sorry im grumpy I stayed up past my bedtime. Like a toddler
