‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎the question is a stark reminder of what started all of this. he felt weird admitting that a nightmare from the most random nap shook him this much, no matter how bad the subject matter was.

ah, so this was what this was about. not that dick is surprised, but a frown still pulls at his lips at the thought of roy thinking something like that. ❝ what exactly was it about ? ❞ is the first thing he asks as he takes the offered seat, giving his friend a lighthearted nudge of their shoulders before divvying out their portions of the meal. their favorites, of course. he knows that roy's own self worth and thoughts were his biggest weakness, that roy's own worst enemy was always himself. besides, anxiety about one's child and how they were raising them was always a worry of a parent, something that would never truly go away. at least, bruce's never went away, and only grew over time and the more children he took under his care.
