one of my favorite things is when you can change someoneās views about reptiles. like i absolutely love seeing the change in their eyes and the visible relaxation once they realize reptiles are incredible creatures each with their own personalities and individual quirks.
I remember the day I stopped hating snakes. A boy in my class brought in a small garden snake, and that was the day I realizedĀ āoh, hey, not all snakes are terrifying and aggressive like adults say they are.ā And then I discovered thread snakes/worm snakes and I wanted one really, really badly, but my mom said no. :(
@o-i-am-a-squid-o My family was originally opposed to me owning snakes. I own 7 (3 boas, 3 ball pythons, and a corn snake) now, with 3 having passed over the years and more to join in the future. Youāll get there, just keep nudging them. Go to a reptile expo with them, show them what a good community there is and the range of species available. Snakes of all price ranges, colors, size, and habitats are there. Many vendors will even let you hold an animal if youāre interested, and if you explain that your family is not happy with the idea, I bet theyāll help educate them too.
