Pony Paradise

The first of Fausts children helped her shape the world with all manner of creation, each specialized to their talents which would leave their mark on their flanks (the first cutiemarks). These first children created flora, fauna, and weather, while Faust brought about the cosmos to allow these things to thrive. Of course the Alicorns were young and new, and sometimes they went too far. While much beautiful life came to be across the world there was also created great beasts, dangerous storms, and hostile plant-life. Faust would always ensure that there was balance, creating counters to each mistake, for she loved solving problems.

The Alicorns enjoyed walking amongst their creations but always returned to the clouds to be close to Faust, for they felt safest amongst their own. Faust would create more of her children, and her original children would create offspring as well. They called their little community Skyros, and reveled amongst themselves.

Soon the Alicorns became complacent. The world they created together continued to shift and evolve without their interference, but it became predictable. Faust discouraged disruption, but her children insisted their could be so much more to this beautiful world, and so Faust breathed sentience amongst chosen fauna in the land. This gift would lead to the evolution of Dragons, Griffins, Hippogriffs, Diamond Dogs, Gargoyles, and other incredible creatures. Soon these species were forming their own communities and claiming parts of the land.

The youngest and newest Alicorns began to question, why did they not also live amongst the creatures of their beautiful world? In fact, the Alicorns visited it less and less, instead watching from Skyros as the world revolved, peaceful amongst themselves. Faust paid no mind to these thoughts at first, but the younglings became more outspoken and altogether difficult. They wished to meddle in the affairs of the world below, to disrupt the balance, and were the first true creators of disharmony. These young Alicorns accidentally birthed the first Draconequus, a chaotic combination of species that wandered the world lonely and disruptive, for they were the only one of their kind. Faust was disappointed with these children, and pitied their creation. After all, she too had once been alone. She held council with her oldest and wisest children who agreed that they should meddle no more in the affairs of the world, for they were too powerful and too biased. Together they decided a punishment for their youngest children and sent them down to the world as the first ponies, never to return to Skyros. The first child kept only their horn, the second only their wings, and the third simply was without either. Faust also breathed the first magic into the world, though it was minuscule compared to the power she possessed. This magic gave her children the ability to create, fly, and form in ways gentle enough that they could not again make the mistake they had before.

The new unicorn, pegasus, and earth pony soon went separate ways, for they no longer felt connected nor could they cope with being cast out of their home. Instead they created more of themselves and formed communities the same as the creatures that came before them had.

Meanwhile, the Alicorns of Skyros watched with baited breath. Had they made the right choice? Faust insisted that what was done was done, though she too mourned for them. They had hoped their children would remain together and work things through instead of separating further and further. Faust declared that until ponykind found harmony together, the Alicorns would not walk among them.

So for generations they watched. Fewer Alicorns came to be, for there was no more for them to do. Fausts first children reached nirvana, giving themselves over to the cosmos for new worlds to form. Magic fluctuated, connections among the three pony species would be made and broken, but no true peace was achieved until Equestria was formed. These six ponies, two of each race, formed what the Alicorns had been waiting on for generations. Now the question came: could they maintain it?

To their joy, Equestria prevailed with a few natural growing pains. They found that when they were together magic flourished, and life became easier. They used their magic to manipulate the world around them, including controlling the weather and the day/night cycle. This came at a great cost to the ponies, depleting their lifeforce and stirring discontent.

Faust and her Alicorns held council once more. The ponies were losing their balance and harmony, and they finally felt it to be true that Alicorns needed to be sent to Equestria, for they themselves would counterbalance the once separated species. Faust and her council decided on a young set of twins that had been born shortly after Equestria was founded. These twins, Celestia and Luna, were filled with magic that prevailed during the day and night respectively, showing in themselves a balance.

Faust took them under her wings personally for a short while and made sure the sisters knew how important their destiny was. As Alicorns they could unite the ponies and bring peace and harmony to the world below. Faust had them learn the history of all that came before including how ponies came to be. She told the sisters that they would never be able to return to Skyros, but that one day, they would be able to create Alicorns in their image as well, just as she had before.
