All I Need Is You

"That’s doubtful" Regina told Grace, a smirk on her face. "Now then, how bout you send out your next Pokemon so we can continue this battle, I can hardly wait for my victory to become official" Regina said. She was going to win after all, she had to. 

Before Grace could even call his name, Nido was walking towards the other Pokemon. Rage filled his eyes. Grace could see his poisonous spikes lift up, daring the Pokemon to touch him. Grace watched for a moment and smirked. Any thing that touch Nido without his permission ended up poisoned. She hoped the Queen didn't know this.

The steel wing hit Sableye though the Pokemon was able to avoid most of the attack and it only hit it’s hand. “Sableye use shadow ball” Regina told her Pokemon, deciding to ignore the fact that it had actually been able to hit her Sableye.

Grace watched as Skar's wings made contact, but then panic filled her eyes as she noticed the Sableye already preparing his next move. The ball of energy launched towards Skar and struck him. He had no time to even attempt dodging the attack.

"Sableye use will-o-wisp" Regina commanded her Pokemon, her tone one of pure force, demanding to be obeyed no matter what. And her Pokemon listened as well. It put it’s hands together and let a ball of fire, emanating a ghostly aura started to form, slowly getting larger.

Due to his agility attack, Skar was able to narrowly dodge the other Pokemon's attack. Grace smiled as she released the breath she was holding. The Queen was powerful, but she still had a chance. Maybe she could win.

It was enough to draw attention though.  At least from one person in the room.  Abra’s eyes were closed, but they always were, the little pokemon was wide awake while Jefferson slept.  Abra knew what was going on, could tell what was happening.  The little creature followed.  Appearing in front of the girl, floating, his legs folded beneath him.  

Grace continued to watch her father. She didn't want to move until she knew for certain that he was asleep. His chest slowly raised and then fell back down in a steady rhythm. Abra's eyes were also closed. They both appeared to be sleeping peacefully. 

All Jefferson wanted to do was be a good father for Grace, and keep her safe.  Yes there was the part of him that knew it’d be hard to keep her happy and keep her safe, especially when she was as strong willed as she was, but…did that not count for something?  That he was trying hard to keep her safe from harm?

Nido woke up briefly and heard Jefferson's words. Of course he would protect her. Grace was the one person that Nido cared about. There was a bond between them. 

"Sableye, fight back with foul play and then, use confuse ray" Regina said in a bored tone, yet secretly glad about Sableye’s special power, for some strange reason, some of it’s moves would attack at superspeed, and confuse ray was one of them, something Regina was quite glad about, as it came in handy much of the time, but also confused by, why did Sableye have such powers? 

"Skar!" Grace screamed, but it was too late. The attack from the Queen's Sableye had hit the bird. Skarmory's talons touched the ground for a quick moment and he shook his head as if he was dizzy. Grace watched nervously as Skar appeared to be lost.

"Sableye, playtime" Regina said, signalling Sableye to come in and battle the Skarmory. Sableye, of course, obeyed, and hopped right in, quickly, and retracted it’s claws, ready to use them whenever necessary. 

Grace smiled nervously. She knew the Queen had no intention of losing this battle. Did the Queen have an advantage over her? Was there something special about this particular Pokemon, Sableye? Surely not. Perhaps the Queen simple hoped to scare her. Fear caused people to make mistakes, but Grace wouldn't let the Queen win.

  Stories?

"Oh yes!" Grace smiled fondly at the memory of her Papa's stories. They would always sit at the table, sharing sweets and tea. Her Papa's voice would normally draw her into a deep sleep, causing her to miss the ending. 

  "I thought so" Regina said with a smirk plastered across her face. "We both have two Pokemon, correct? I do believe that we should do it one at a time" she continued setting up some rules in her head,  

"One at a time sounds fine to me." Grace kept her voice even, not willing to let the Queen know that she was nervous. She had only truly battled once.. Well if one could call that a battle. The pirate merely tortured her Pokemon, forcing her to watch without being able to save them. "I'll use my Skarmory first." 

Regina saw the girl run, and followed with her magic, teleporting to avoid the whirlwind, grabbing sableye first and leaving skitty, the useless thing, behind. With a puff of purple smoke she reappeared, right in front of the girl. “I did tell you it was dangerous, didn’t I” she said with a smirk. “Sableye, use Confuse Ray on the bird Pokemon, Skar, or whatever it’s name is” she ordered the purple Pokemon. 

Grace stopped dead in her tracks when the Queen suddenly appeared before her. The Queen had magical abilities. How?

"I thought you had a meeting with someone that you were already late to" Regina asks the girl, believing that she finally caught the girl in the lies. She knew that the girl was telling them, she had heard the lies of others enough….. "Why don’t I accompany you to meet whoever it is that you are meeting, and then I could help you find your parents, I don’t want a girl as small as you are to get trampled along the way." 

Grace ran. There was no other option. Lying to the Queen had actually turned out to be a bad idea. She had little experience in lying, and it showed. 

"Well then, perhaps I should accompany you? A festival as busy as this is no place for a young girl like you to be walking around all alone. Where are your parents, anyways? I would assume that they would have more sense than to leave their daughter all alone…." Regina said, knowing that the girl, whatever part of her story it was, something wasn’t off. 

Grace looked down at the ground. Of course the Queen decided to question her further. Why was she even bothering her anyways? Grace was a simple peasant girl with a torn and tattered dress, while the Queen wore a glamorous gown of fine material. 

"But I insist" Regina said, smiling a bit once more, "Really dear, you should feel honored, a Queen wants to have a Pokemon battle with you" Regina said, revealing her royal status to the girl, seeing if maybe this would change her mind at all.

Skar screeched in the Queen's face. He didn't appreciate the way that she was speaking to Grace.
