The wildest thing about Louis at the diner is, he could have totally gotten away with things if he'd had a single ounce of chill. If he wanted to show up every night, all he had to do was bring a laptop, order a coffee or a beer that he sipped occasionally, and not stared too intensely. People would have assumed he was just a guy who worked late, he'd become a regular, and would have probably gotten to chat with Regina without setting off screaming alarm bells.
Instead he didn't even make it a whole week before going "HEY SO DID YOU KNOW I AM ONE OF THE RICHEST MEN ALIVE AND THERE'S A BOOK ABOUT ME, ANYWAY I CAN BUY YOU A CAR"
By the time we left Italy I was playing dangerous little games with mortals. I’d see a man, or a woman—a human being who looked perfect to me spiritually—and I would follow the human about. Maybe for a week I’d do this, then a month, sometimes even longer than that. I’d fall in love with the being. I’d imagine friendship, conversation, intimacy that we could never have. In some magical and imaginary moment I would say: “But you see what I am,” and this human being, in supreme spiritual understanding, would say: “Yes, I see. I understand.”
