MOTKRAFT

En klassedebatt for ungdomselever hvor de skal bruke info gagnet fra både teknisk museum, og fra faktakort gitt i forkant av debatten, til å argumentere mot hverandre. Målet med dette var at ungdommene skulle bli spesialister innenfor hvilken energikidle de ble utdelt før besøket til TM, og lære hverandre hva som er styrkene og svakhetene med hverandres energikilder.

Mye av våres arbeid bestod av visualisering, prototyping, research, brukertesting og diskutering.

Ideaphase!

First week, lots of ideas. We’ve discussed, researched and visualized several concepts regarding this brief. Everything in relation to energy and learning.

Next week is gonna be fun!

Ever made a game? It’s fun and challenging, especially if you haven’t done it before.

We started concepting our board, our rules, what we wanted, etc.

I found that coming up with rules for a game on the spot, with the intricacies of game development, was more difficult than I anticipated.

A game needs the moments that makes it fun, exciting, thrilling and eventful. Not boring, repetative and exhausting. Having a ruleset to follow helped, but it was difficult to coordinate every step of the rules into the process.

At one point we went of in our own direction, discussing the path of the game. We centered on a religious theme, and called our game ‘Samsara’.

1st prototype.

Inspired by Ludo, the goal is to reach the center of the board, walking through each layer of life in order to reach enlightenment.

Each player starts in a cell, and have to roll to get out. You can only get to the next level, by going around once and up through your own ‘gate’.

The game also have cards corresponding to each level. The cards either give you a buff or a debuff, or rather good karma or bad karma. :D

Here was our final prototype. Room for improvement for sure.

Synth Box & Glove

Experience thunderous sound with the touch of your fingers. With each digit inhabiting their own sound effect, visualized both visually and audibly. It works by connecting the thumb to the other four fingers. While the box is the interpreter, the glove is the instructor. Changing the sound, the light and their effect through movements of the hand.

This time on dragonball z..

Finished product is here. This day was spent making our last glove, and refining the code.

With the help of my partner @fabianfabio, we used 3d printed forms to accentuate the wires. Both for practical and esthetical use.

We also encased our microbit inside a velcro strapped case with the same stylized lasercutted pattern as our speaker box.

All in all, our items are done and ready for use.

Final week, few opportunities.

After last weeks attempt at soldering..

..I had to redo it due to malfunctions. The lights didn’t light up. Yay.

So happy redo!

Taken apart and put together around 5-6 times, tiresome but worth it.

Added a removable buttom for easy access to hardware.
