Collage on Stursia & O'Keeffe... my very messy attempt to (mostly) explore how the Zosia in Carols mind exists as a kind of approximation of Zosia/The World as they really are and relating that to O'keeffe's thoughts on abstraction + the way she utilized this in her work.

The subjective way we conceive of and construct someone in our heads is a kind of abstraction on its own...I think we appear as abstractions to each other... Zosia is herself an expression of The World to Carol but that expression only conveys so much. I honestly think a person in their entirety and with all their facets is no less complicated and easier to understand than a global hivemind. There's truth in the abstraction and a level of subjective interpretation... Zosia is The World, and a woman who once was, and someone that only exists in Carol's head, and a person that is still very, honestly real. I think it just depends on where you stand. But I don't know how much any of that came through LOL

#O'Keeffe talked a lot about attempting to know the unknown thru abstraction #and basically i feel like that really speaks to Carol & Worlds relationship #They'll always be out of reach to each other... they will never fully Know each other...#i think especially in Worlds case they have to learn to make peace with that unknown #we need the unknown in our relationships and to understand that we will Never fully know each other & always on some level be #alien to each other. That is literally what pushes us to try and understand the Other and love the Other #and so the abstraction is inevitable... trying to grasp for something just out of reach. trying to understand it #btw i wanna add. i dont know if the sudden introduction of salmon pink with Zosia's sweater #was purposefully meant to evoke On The River I but its so insanely fitting lol #The pink sky as a kind of transitional color that u only see as the sun rises or sets & the way its framed where from the viewers #perspective its like ur at the bottom of a pit looking upwards...#it just feels very appropriate considering where Carol was mentally at the time. i dunno #pluribus #stursia #zosia #carol sturka #webweave #??

one of my favorite images on earth. the pure unbridled freedom emanating from it. the white car flying over the railroad tracks in the middle of the night....the black cop car half-hidden in the shadows to the left side, likely seconds before pouncing.....the joyous rabbit captured mid-leap, sailing past the jaws of a waiting predator, forever fleeing the inevitable. i feel giddy just looking at it
