yes, we know anne is brave and love her for it, and joke about her BDE, but she is 41 here, no? 41 years and a lot of female lovers later, you are already there in acceptance (not saying it was easy). but has ann even really kissed anyone else before? like, WANTED to? if you rewatch their talk about kissing "maybe, just to see what is like" it might as well be about anne still. i am just glad that we get to see ann's road to that same bravery as anne, to wanting to have a wife, and share a home
Oh my god donโt talk to me about that scene because itโs PERFECT!!!!!!!! I just wanna say, and this is gonna be a rant yโall just so you know, that theย โHave you ever kissed anyone?โ scene is my favorite, like my absolute fave of the whole series because:
1. the way Anne just fucking asks that question after leading the conversation to sex with all that pocket holes story is aย magistral flirting move.
3.ย every single line is flirty and hot af!!! even when Anne saysย โPerhaps you wouldnโt tell me if you had.โ implying that Ann could have a reason to not tell her, i.e. she doesnโt want to tell her because thereโs something between them and you donโt talk about past lovers with your new potential one!!!!!!!
4. Ann asking super fastย โHave you?โ glancing at Anneโs lips because, maybe, sheโs starting to think that THEY could kiss. The way Anne saysย โI asked you.โ with that little flirty smile akfafkhjlj and Ann that canโt even breathe properly! like her breathing is not steady at all lol poor baby was turned on af
5. โWell, have you never wanted to?โโฆ cut to >ย Actual proof earlier that episode of Ann Walker wanting to kiss Anne Lister:
The tension the TENSION!!!! Sheโs fucking drawn to her!!! look how she moves forward without even realizing it!!!!! I canโt with this show I swearโฆ

oh my goooooooood, the pause she does before answering and how she looks at Annโs lips for the longest time making sure Ann is watching what sheโs doing
7. the way Ann asksย โWell, who? When?โ with a little panic in her voice, not knowing if sheโs more scared of Anne saying the name of a random someone or if sheโs more scared of her own desire to hear her own name as the answer to that question!!! LOOK AT HER!!!
her face is like โis she gonna say my name??? oh my god do I even want her to say my name??? what if Iโm the one she wants to kiss?? am I hoping she says itโs me? oh please say itโs meโ. Annโs feeling a little scared, kinda turned on, confused but excited (and you can see all of it on her face because Sophie is amazing) And then when Anne actually implies she wants to kiss her, she goes into gay panic mode lol I love Ann Walker so much <3
8. And last but not the least, I love how ANNEโSย FUCKING LEANING ON THAT COUCH POSITIONING HERSELF A LITTLE LOWER THAN ANN TO PHYSICALLY BE IN A POSITION OF โDISADVANTAGEโ KINDA SUBMITTING HERSELF TO ANN WHEN in reality SHEโS THE ONE LEADING THE CONVERSATION!!! She gives Ann a physical power to make her feel as comfortable as possible because she knows that what sheโs implying (i.e. wanting to kiss her) could scare her and so she tries to balance the situation by being as less intimidating as possible with her body language!!!! ITโs FUCKING HOT I CANT- her body language saysย โIโm here and Iโm open to whatever you feel like doing, you choose, you can come to me if you want, Iโm here and I wonโt push youโย while looking at Annโs lips the whole time, and so making it clear that if Ann wants to kiss her she absolutely can!!!!! and itโs the sexiest thing Iโve ever seen.
Okay, Iโm doneโฆnow, on a more serious note, watching that scene after you know what happened with Ainsworth is really different because you know that the only experience Ann has ever had was horrible and her answers have a whole new meaning. And this is one of the things this show does really well, the dialogues have more to it than what it seems.
